Default Any ex-Sufi's (who belonged to a specific sufi sect) overhere ? (input needed)
As salaamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Are there any ex-Sufi's (who belonged to a specific sufi sect) overhere on this forum ? I would like to ask them the following questions:

1. How did you get in connection with this particular sufi sect
2. How was the ''rope in'' process with the shaykh of the particular sufi sect ?
3. What were your experinces throug-out the time you adhered to that sufi sect ?
4. What made you leave this particular sufi sect.

Wa alaykum as salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

i can't answer your questions as they don't apply to me.

but they are sufi tariqahs, not sects, just as hanafis and shafis belong to different schools of fiqh but not sects.

Youve never met a sufi - sufi is a station not a title

Not everyone agrees. Yes, historically this may have been the meaning of the term but not "sufi" typically means someone who either believes in the validity of Tasswuf OR, even more commonly, is affiliated with a "Sufi" tariqa.

Those who use "sufi" as a title for those who have ba'yat to a sufi Sheikh have a fundemental misunderstanding of Tassawuf - ask any person on this forum involved in Tassawuf and not one would refer to themselves as a sufi. Its like being a Freshman in college majoring in Engineering and walking around calling yourself an engineer. This has little to do with the OP's question though, so I will leave it alone. I just wanted to point out that few people have met a Sufi, and those who are opposed to Tassuf such as the OP and Bidahbasher usually have very little knowledge of Tasswuf and this is evident by the words they use.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh

you should broaden this question out to include sect like Muslim movements (modernists, hizbutahrir and the sect like groups amongst the salafis etc)
