Assalamu alikum muslim brothers and sisters
As the thread suggests this is yet another attempt to restore Islam to the glory it once held. Some of you might argue that it has never lost it, and that is true in a way, to phrase it right it's the people who have lost their way hence darkening the image of our beloved religion. Shahwa has become all around us, and although I live in an Islamic and Arabic country, the influence it has on their lives is rare and in some cases non-existence. In this thread I would like you all to put down your ideas of activities that young Muslims would enjoy and would bring them closer to our Lord and make Islam a treasure to be proud of holding. jazakum Allahu khayran |

I think first and foremost, some type of aggressive program is needed worldwide, not only for youth but for all Muslims, to build awareness and get people back into making salat. Though I'm not sure how statistically accurate these figures are, I have heard in more than one bayan that recent surveys and studies reveal that only 1-2% of the world Muslim population is making salat reguarly. This is not hard to believe, and wouldn't be surprising if it was even less. Let's just look at our own selves and at those around us. Notice I said "regularly", not even "5 times". The rest are either Jummah to Jummah and Eid to Eid, even more only Eid to Eid and no Jummah, and even more? Nothing. Nada. Not a single salat in years upon years upon years. May Allah save us all and give us the taufeeq to guard every single one of our salats, Ameen. That is the reason for the downfall of the Muslim ummah. Destroying the greatest gift of salat, the greatest gift which Allah gave us after the kalima tayabba (La iLLaha iLLAllah, Muhammadur Rasulullah). Allah knows best and may He forgive me if I said anything wrong. 1. There needs to be some type of program in the world, maybe started on the internet and advertised aggressively on general public sites (Insha'Allah with enough donations from the Muslim comunity to cover costs of advertising), to pull us Muslims towards some type of website/brochure or something which just puts us in our place and makes us feel extremely bad about giving up salat, no matter how 'astray' we are. 2. The program needs to include the actual history behind salat, how it came to be, what each of the physical actions mean, what each of the words we say mean, the whole nine yards. Otherwise, it's just a series of movements we go through while saying words in a foreign language (for most of us, anyway). Even just #2 to start with would Insha'Allah help. Yes, the information exists out there but it needs to be pushed in Muslims' faces and presented in a manner which everyone can relate to and understand. Allah guides who He wills and no one can guide the one who Allah wills astary. May Allah make us all among those who are guided and not among those who go astary. Ameen. I know Tabligh is one way and Alhamdulillah great work is being done through Tabilighi jamaat when it comes to these issues, but not everyone is sitting in the masjid for the Thursday night bayan. Not everyone is going for 3 days every month. Majority of the world Muslim population wouldn't even know the salat timings, let alone where the local Masjid is, let alone there's such a place called "masjid" or something called "jamaat" where you can go for even a few hours daily, if nothing else, to learn the deen. Another channel needs to be used, a channel which just about everyone uses these days, making salat or not, and that channel is the internet. Though I know nothing, it is my personal belief and opinion that until the Muslim ummah stops destroying salat 24/7 and gets back into it, Allah's help will not come for us. Of course, Allah knows best and I know nothing, I could be and most probably am completely wrong. May Allah forgive me. During the Prophet s' time and the time of the Sahaba , they had one major thing which we don't have today. They used this one thing to take from Allah's treasures. Allah put the world under their feet. What was this one thing? Salat. Please make dua that Allah forgives me as I may have said a bit much in this post. Ameen. Allah knows best. |

I think you are right. I have never left a congregational prayer intentionally due to laziness, except that I've seen the ill-effect of it in my life almost immediately. |

I truly believe that the best thing a Muslim youth can do to get closer to Allah is to build a strong relationship with the Qur'an.
Reciting and memorizing Qur'an regularly and learning the meaning will bring up your iman. Youths should enter programs like Bayyinah institute to learn at least minimum Arabic so they can understand the word of Allah. Other things like studying tafseer and reading scholarly commentary on Qur'anic verses will also be extremely beneficial. Once a strong relationship with the Qur'an is built, everything else will automatically fall into place (salah, fasting, charity, akhlaq etc...) |
