Assalaam u alaikum wr wb,

Dear brotherit's nice to see that you' re intrested in tasawuf, but firstly it's important to rectify onceown aqeedah otherwise the amaal have no reward to it. So my sincere advice would be to concentrate on your aqeedah firstly and then turning towards tasawuf.
May Allah swt guide all of us.
Jazakallah

Brother, were you Christian?

If yes then I have to inform you that Shia beliefs are very dangerous. Their Tawheed is not correct, they prefer to call upon 12 men (Shiites have given them the attributes of Allah). Their belief in the Quran is also not correct. Majority of their classical scholars didn't believe in the correctness of Quran and even today their scholars believe that verses of the Quran are not in their correct places (they were moved by Sahaba). They believe in a flawed and invented theory of Imamah and consider it to be a piller of their beliefs.

Also, Sufism is not a religion.

Sufism is indeed beautiful, there are various sufis shaykhs that you can benefit from. Shaykh Nuh Keller is an American convert, who is a Sufi Master and has many students. He would be an idea person to take bayah with. There is also Shaykh Noorudeen Durki also an american convert, and who is also a Sufi Master and has many students... You could bayat from him as well. If you would like their information I will gladly post it...

There is nothing wrong with seeking out a Sufi Shaykh, the above two shaykhs are valid scholars of both the outward and inward sciences, take bayah from one of them and you'll be fine with your fiqh and aqida.... in sha allah.

Where do you live ? At first, you should try to meet sufi shaykhs living near żour home. If you do not feel attracted towards them , then try to find sufi shaykhs
at distant places.
