Salam,
To cut a long story short ... A family member of mine who is an illegal immigrant here in the Uk is looking to get married to a woman from Europe (non muslim). He has paid someone money and the girl has recently entered the UK. She is going to give her shahadah before the Nikkah. I got a phone call as I have strong connections with my mosque and the imam and I told the imam the truth (they didn't expect me to do that) the Imam said he will not do the Nikkah and said go elsewhere! Now in-directly they are making me feel bad by saying I should have used Hikmah with my wording with the imam .. I refused to do this as I respect this imam and i pray behind this imam and this imam teaches me and has time for me when I have questions etc. Now they have found an alternative masjid and imam to perform the nikkah and he wants me to be a witness (as I have a close relationship with him) I assume I would be wrong if i became a witness in the Nikkah ... I keep getting told its a proper marriage and inshallah the woman will become a good muslim etc but I know citizenship in the UK is one of the main reasons why this marriage is going ahead. Your thoughts etc ? |

![]() The intentions of the marriage are not for us to consider. They are between the parties involved. There isn't anything wrong in being a witness to the nikah. The person(s) who is committing a mistake is the one involved in the actual scam - if it actually turns out to be a scam. We should have husn al-dhann. |
