Am i seeing things which aren't there? Or are many muslims on this forum really suffering from an inferiority complex?
I feel that there's too much of a ''That's the reason we lag behind as muslims'' ''No wonder muslims are always a bit backward'' ''That's why we muslim's are scorned at'' attitudes on SF. (correct me if i'm wrong) For some reason it bugs me coz people usually show this attitude when they're trying to proof the need for muslims to unite with kuffaar and brelvi's and all and sundry.... Did islaam ever streghnthen with falsehood? Or with muslims compromising their deen? Or with muslims getting all chummy with their supposed-to-be enemies? Okay. Rant over! |

![]() Anyone who suggests that we compromise our deen for the sake of unity or for any reason has already compromised his or her deen. The reason Muslims are "inferior" has nothing to do with not falling in line with the kuffaar. It is simply because of our deviations from the sunnah. Strict adherence to the Qur'an and sunnah will save the ummah, not unity with deviants or kuffaar. We don't even take a look at any of the minor sunnahs but we try to be extremely accommodating to the kuffaar. I think this inferiority complex stems from colonialism. Have you noticed how many of us are extremely welcoming and overly friendly with non-Muslims but we don't behave in such a manner with other Muslims? |

There's a difference between 'uniting with kuffar' and recognising our weaknesses so to overcome them. Working alongside Barelwis and Salafis to achieve a mutual goal for the betterment of Muslims is a sign of humility and sincerity. We've worked with Barelwis on many projects and it has been beneficial many times. As for uniting with the Muslims...just because you talk to them and work with them on some issues, this doesn't mean you are one of them. You cannot live in a non Muslim country and have an attitude where you're always thinking every time I see a bloody kafir I want to chop his head off. You work with them where there is a need and give them dawah, show them true Islam as opposed to radical versions and this challenges the stereotype. You don't compromise your beliefs and values and maintain your dignity. If someone can't do that, then maybe the only solution for them is to live in a country where everyone is Muslim, everyone is Deobandi and everyone is on the straight and narrow.
Now I'm sure there'll be loads of people calling me a hypocrite or brainwashed or implying that I love kuffar more than Muslims along with a few other sentiments expressed but I've never understood this mentality of some of the SF brethren who demand we either literally or mentally spit in the face of everyone who is different from us. They take a one dimensional approach to the sunnah way of cooperating with the nonmuslims and forget the many pacts the Muslims had with the non Muslims during the Prophet's ![]() mmb, how's that for a rant? =) Br. Umar, sorry to spoil the thread! |

![]() Hm, I am quite sure no one wishes in their heads to chop off every kuffar head they see, or spit at anyone who is different from us. Just as one side may forget the many pacts Rasulullah ![]() ![]() |

![]() ^ That was what I thought as well. What Appa has said is correct too. We have to take in consideration where we are and who we have to deal with. However because of this we mustn't compromise on our beliefs etc. I think what many people don't understand is that cooperation and unity are not the same. |

Nope, you haven't spoilt it; but I've somehow the impression that we're talking of slightly different things; I feel that was more highlighted here was the inferiority complex and the obsession of being "behind" and having for this to compromize with our Din... ![]() |

I'm all for being sane and decent when associating and dealing with the kuffar and people of all beliefs. But coming from a non-muslim country i can say with certainty that many of us as muslims suffer from a complex and don't want to stand out (as muslims) from the rest of the crowd. An example: My friend doesn't want to wear hijaab coz it makes the kuffar feel uncomfortable, she wants to be a role model muslim, want's everyone to be comfortable and attracted to her religion and want's to be open for all. So no hijaab for her. Others will have no qualms about treating their own family like dirt, but when theyr'e in the company of non-muslims they behave with utmost respect and dignity to show that we as muslims are extremely sociable and not at all terrorist minded. Likewise there those who attend mawlid and brelvi gatherings to prove that they are humble and have no pride. There's loads of examples.... Isn't all the above related to compromising the deen or suffering from inferiority complex??? Basically what people are trying to do is behave as if there's not much of a difference between being a rightly guided muslim and a kuffar or deviated muslim. They're trying to prove that inspite of us having different belief's and even worshiping different lords (na'oothubillah), we can still be chums and get along great. WE ARE ALL ONE. I feel that we are picking and choosing sunnah's to follow. |

We are not inferior. In front of a non-muslim a muslim can never ever be inferior. A person who doesn't know how to read or write a single letter, cannot read time, drive or work a computer BUT has imaan and believes ALLAH is much, much, much more SUPERIOR than a great professor or president who has no imaan, rejects ALLAH as his lord and worships someone other than ALLAH.
Period. |

"Some will bring kaafir, na-paak british soldiers into the house of ALLAH to give them da'wah before they depart to war! There.... SAID IT!!!"
I think this is unfair. I am sure the intention for this was not to cause harm to Muslims, it is to show the people who are going to invade that Muslims are human and not some de-humanized followers of a mad religion who should be exterminated. |

![]() Interesting point about the inferiority complex...I think its very true. For example, In a non-muslim country, celebrities are often sensationalized in the media and when muslims reach the point that they begin to look up to them, then you know that these muslims are suffering from the inferiority complex. Generally, we will only aspire to be like a person if we perceive their way of life to be better than ours so a good, practising muslim will always look up to Rasulullah ![]() It may sound far fetched, but I have seen so many people who are virtually OBSESSED with celebrities, its quite sad really. I put it down to the inferiority complex, if they were proud of being Muslim then they would never look up to someone who is so far from the deen of Allah, just like when someone is proud of being bengali, pakistani e.t.c then they're not embarrassed in being openly nationalist. Having said that, I do think we should have good manners when speaking to muslims and non-muslims alike, but I guess that's another story. ![]() |
