Default From Damascus Steel to Chicken Biryani : Muslims are good in cooking science only !!
Nowadays, you can find many Muslim-owned restaurants in the European cities selling Chicken Biryani and Donor kebap which are quite popular. This shows clearly that the Muslims have become world class experts in food science or culinary art.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doner_kebab
##############

Now if you compare this excellence with the expertise in science and technology , particularly , military technolgy , the situation is really pathetic.

But, in the past , the situation was different. Damascus steel is a good example of high tech in the glorious past. The reputation and history of Damascus steel has given rise to many legends, such as the ability to cut through a rifle barrel, or cut a hair falling across the blade.

#########

The continued dominance of the Ottoman Empire from 1299 to 1922 depended considerably on the skill and strength of the Ottoman Military. The Ottoman Army had access to the legendary "Damascus Steel", a hot-forged steel used in Middle Eastern swordmaking from about 1100 to 1700 AD. While speculation exists on the reason behind its legendary strength and sharpness, one explanation is the distinctive pattern consists of alternating bands of brittle but hard iron carbide and softer more flexible iron. Another possibility is that the steel contains a trace amounts of vanadium, which would theoretically strengthen the blade.

If you have a look at the number of companies participating in a defense related trade show , you will get a good idea how poor the Muslim nations are in military technology

May be , some Britain based Muslims join this exhibition in order to sell "portable Biryani Lunch in the Battle field " !!!

It is quite sad that really there are no Muslim manufacturers of weapons and military technology and that all the Muslims army pretty much get their stuff from USA and Europe.. Pakistan have a couple of their own stuff but the only Middle eastern country that has more than a few of their own-made military vehicles are Iran... And to think the Ottomans (at their peak) were the world leaders in military technology..sigh

Ottoman military power wasn't merely the result of them having slightly better swords. It came from the fact that the Janissary Corps. were the first standing army since the Roman legionaries. By standing army I mean a group of soldiers whose primary duty was military combat. Typically most armies were made of local peasants who were conscribed by their feudal lords. These relatively untrained armies simply could not compete against the Janissary Corps, who spent the entirety of their lives preparing for combat. That's why the Ottomans were militarily superior--gunpowder and a great navy also helped a lot too.

Eventually the Janissaries fell prey to the love of dunya, and lost discipline. They were doing other jobs and not training properly (because the treasury was declining and they were not being paid properly). Several times the Sultans tried to reform the Janissaries but were murdered.

They also kept using bronze cannons which were too heavy to move once set on the field, because the bronze-casting department would lose their jobs if the army switched to lighter iron cannons like the Europeans. Dunya!

This is honestly one of the primary reasons the Ottomans failed to modernize; they had artisans and their guilds doing everything they could to prevent large scale industrialization on par with what European nations during the time were doing.

Total War is an awesome series of games, and it really teaches you on a fundamental level how the world works: might makes right. Just got Shogun 2; it's amazing.

We should not underestimate the power of Chicken briyani and kebab. It can help you win a war , if you can supply loads of chicken biryani and kebab to the soldiers of the enemy army !!

Moreover , some sleep-inducing ingredients should be mixed with those foods so that the soldiers feel sleepy in the battle-field.

Long live Chicken Biryani !

In Muslim communities , you will find Jihadi minded people including Ulama who give rousing lectures to the young Muslims to fight the infidels.

But , when it comes to the weapon development , those Chicken Biryani eating Ulama and leaders seem to have no clear strategy. What is their real motive ? It seems to be quite suspicious !!

Check this link just to see how much advanced weapon the enemy have !!

Drones Hone In On Taliban Targets Marked With Tiny Microchips

http://www.popsci.com/military-aviat...predator-drone

################
One of the most difficult aspects in the war being conducted in Pakistan is obtaining accurate, real-time intelligence, accessing the region, and ultimately attacking the threat. However, in the remote and mountainous regions of Waziristan and the Swat Valley in Pakistan, populated by factious tribes that may or may not be housing Al-Qaeda operatives, this has proven difficult. Over the past several years the US military has launched many missile attacks by the drone aircrafts, which have solved the problem of the access and the attack. The microchips, called “parthai” by locals, meaning “metal device” in Pashto, have solved the issue of intelligence. The chips are placed by local tribesmen, who are paid by the CIA and who have a more intimate knowledge of the community and targets.
