Once upon a time I had his collected short stories. In that there was one about a Coffee House in Surat. There were merchants from various countries, and hence mazaahib, who started talking about their respective mazhab. Hindu, Christian and a Muslim also. Finally the things were concluded by a Confucian. So it was nice that he chose India as a place where this kind of discourse was possible but is also means that his inclination was towards Confucianism. Wallahualam.

I have seen his biography recently and got impression that he was very much deep thinking, searching for essence of belief, he actually died unhappy (seems but who knows), he refused to see his own wife on last days even she was very devoted to him.
