I go to a public school in the United States.
Now, I don't know if they do this in every city, but in my school every morning we stand up, face the American flag at the front of the room and recite something called the "Pledge of Allegiance" It goes like this: I pledge allegiance, To the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Now by saying these words, im pledging allegiance to America and its people. I was thinking, as a Muslim, am I allowed to do this? As far as I know, we're not allowed to ally with non-Muslims. Anyone know the ruling on this? |

Bismihee Ta'aala
Asalamualaikum. I remember back in middle school we had to do this every day. Best thing to do is just stand up and stay quite. Be respectful, but don't say anything. If they start looking at you, just recite something else. Just don't cause any unecessary problems. I don't know the ruling on this, but this what I did. |

Bismihee Ta'aala Ya, don't say anything; I guess people will speak that non-sense in a unison and loud voice, so no one will notice if you simply move your mouth withouth saying anything. Or maybe you could make some Istighfar.. |

We were never made to do that where I went to high school in NY. We were expected to do it all the way through middle school, but not in high school. Some kids used to stand (usually the dim-witted ones), some didn't for various reasons. No one can force you to stand and pledge if you don't want to. |
