Found this on askimams website.....

Q. sallam i am a 24 yr practising sister stupidly at 16 i had a tattoo on my arm, a band no coulor or eyes please advise me wat to do as i have heard namaz is not acceptable.

A. We commend you for your commitment for Deen. May Allah keep you steadfast and grant you full reward for your effort. Ameen

If it is possible to remove the tattoo, you should do so. However, if it is difficult and painful to remove it, you could try and use some camouflage to cover it in some way. You will be excused if it cannot be removed.

And Allah Knows Best

This was a common issue with many including myself (new Muslim / former gang members etc).

Many of the brothers I knew had exceptionally large tattoos (entire back / chest / stomach). Some opted for laser removal but from what I remember it would cost up to or more then 5000 usd

Some opted to use a scalpel technique (not recommended for the weak) and cut the tattos off. This worked best with
Images on the arm or tricep areas.

My concern was branding on the arms and back as it is not removable, I changed the images so it would not represent
Anything.

Finally. Allah is merciful if you are sincerely sorry for your mistake

I've never heard of getting the tattoos removed with a scalpel, is it like from a Dr. or just some brothers doing it?

Brother

Scalpel is just a nice word to describe what it really is

Using a sharp knife to remove the skin. As stated I do not
Endorse this method as it is very possible you can get a serious
Infection or pass out and loose a lot of blood

I never understand why born Muslims want to get haram tattoos
When you clearly cannot attain Wudu

The whole reason why a Tatoo is a sin is because your altering with Allah Paaks creation.. so if you've got one.. but regret it.. I think you may well be excused.. Allah Paak knows best. If you try to remove it.. by removing your skin.. your still altering with Allah Paaks creation. So best too leave it as it is.- thats my opinion anyways.

As far as I have read .. tatoos are actually under the skin.. and not on top.. so wudhu is accepted.

My friend has got dimaonds in his teeth.. one diamond on every tooth.. around £80,000 worth of gear in his gob. Lol. they are drilled in individually into each tooth.. and the only way he can get rid of them is too knock his teeth out. But he has changed.. Mash'Allah .. may Allah Paak forgive us for our stupid sins and help us.

Jazak'Allah everyone

This is not entirely correct. The ink is injected into the dermis, which is the second layer of skin underneath the exterior epidermis.

As for the validity of wudhu, then if there is tattoo ink on the surface of the skin, then wudhu would be invalid - otherwise it is valid.

But tattoos should be removed because of narrations from Rasoolullah specifically warning against them.
