Default Qur'an Memorised In One Month
Maulana Qasim Nanotwi (رحمه الله) set out to perform Hajj with a group of Hujjaj. During the course of their journey by ship, the crescent was sighted signalling the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Many of his fellow Hujjaj were desirous of listening to the entire Qur'an in Taraweeh Salaah, but not a single Haafidh was on board to accomplish the task. Maulana (رحمه الله) too was not a Haafidh at the time.

After much deliberation, Maulana (رحمه الله) agreed to perform the Taraweeh. He would memorise one juz of Qur'an during the day and recite it in Taraweeh at night. In this way, he memorised the entire Qur'an in one month. [Jawahire Pare, vol. 1, p 81; Sawanih Qasimi]

Memorising the Qur'an is no simple feat. Fortunate are those who succeed. [Pearls From The Path, Volume 3]
