I don't think so. Of course if the woman is in hijaab and travelling with a male its fine. |

So this means that Muslim taxi drivers should refuse to transport non-mehram women. As regards the hijab and accompanied by male...what if she is accompanied by a male but is not wearing hijab? Will it be halal to transport them? What if the male who is with the woman is not mehram? Is the taxi driver required to ask their relationship? What if they reply that they are husband and wife? Is the taxi driver supposed to ask for their nikahnama to confirm that they are actually married? I think the best solution would be for all Muslim taxi drivers to refuse to transport any woman at all. That should solve the problem, I guess. |

But I would assume that there are always chances of fitna in transporting unaccompanied ghayr mehram women. Moreover with respect to women being accompanies by a male it is never sure whether they are related or are husband and wife. Therefore, I guess to be on the safe side, Muslim drivers should only transport men. |

Ofcourse men with small children should also be okay as long as they do not have a woman with them since in Western countries, you can never be sure whether the male and female are married. Better to ask for their marriage license before allowing them to get into the taxi just to be sure. I guess even transporting two males might be a bit problematic since they could actually turn out to be gays. Therefore, the best bet would be to allow only one male to transported in the taxi. |

A marriage license is not from one of the requirements of shari'ah, either. Do you expect the taxi driver to go look for the witnesses of the marriage??? As for homosexuals - again, it is absurd to assume that if there is more than one man asking for a taxi ride, all of them must be gay. And males are not considered ghayr mahram to any other males just how females aren't considered ghayr mahram to other females. Are you trying to be facetious? |
