Salam alaikum brothers.

Akhi SunniSeeker barakallahu fik.

First of all report from Muhammad ibn Sirin (rahimahullah) would be mursal. Because he was not companion, and even if it is saheeh till him, chain should be consider as disconnected.

I check mentioned report in Saheeh of ibn Huzayma, and can't get how it could be used as evidence.
And main question evidence for what?

Gathering of Muslims in the Friday, couldn't be used as evidence of permissibility of imitating kuffar amongst Ahlekitab, because:

1) Muslims didn't gathered in the days when kuffar do that. Nasarah do that in Sunday, Jews in Saturday. But we do it in Friday.

2) Gathering in Friday, was prescribed upon us, by Allah:
(interpretation of the meaning):
“O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu‘ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu‘ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for you if you did but know!”
[al-Jumu’ah 62:9]

Can it be likened to following the ahle kitab? How about the more famous narration regarding fasting on 'Ashura, which the the Prophet salAllahu alayh wassallam adopted in imitation of the Jews of Madinah? This is an error, because we were prescribed to hold 9 and 10, or 10 and 11, especially to differ with Jews.
