![]() I will not annoy you with the whole background of this event. But I basically need a second account where I can deposit money and in this case it will be some type of 'saving' account, the bank will pay me rent on the 31 of december every year. Rent of course is strictly forbidden according to the Sharia but is there a way that I can get myself rid of this rent in a permissible way? Since I receive it once a year, I will exactly know how much it is, every penny of it. Can I for example give it to charity (not to be rewarded for it) or should I just give it back to the bank or any other way to get rid of it? Or is it not permissble at all? ![]() |

![]() Yes, of course one cannot expect to count it as a sadaqah while it's not yours but I need some way to get rid of it. The bank will automatically give me rent, they say it will cost them money if they make an exception in their administration. So I will receive rent/interest each year. What would be better? Giving it back to the bank or giving it to charity? And can I give it to every type of charity or is it for example not permissible to give it to a 'mosque-building project' because of the nature of this money? And could you please provide proof brother? |

![]() http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...6b722f6ab5fe88 http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...936e477a6abcc8 http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...5d6ae9dafb288b So, interest can be given to the poor but it is best not to deal with it in the first place (i.e. find an institution where you may safeguard your money without dealing with interest or to return the interest received). And in the same vein as using interest money for a masjid: http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...1738885485757e Therefore, impermissible to use interest money for a masjid (construction, maintenance, salaries, etc.). http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/hmoney.htm But if the money collected in a masjid is given directly to the poor, then permissible. |
