Default Maslaha: Grounds for Abrogating Qati' Definitive Rules?

All are welcome. However, one could be misguided by the content of this linked article. In which case, I encourage everyone to voice their view on this issue of "Islamic pragmatism".

Maslaha and how it shapes political thought among Islamic movements such as Ikhwaan Muslimun and others, is highlighted in this article about Muslim Brotherhood, maslaha and Maqasidul Shariah.

Then, please voice your observations about the results of this article and answer the question:

-Do you agree with the findings?

-Is Maslaha grounds for abrogating a qati/ definitive rule, such as the prohibition of riba`?

-Is Maqasidul Shariah a legitimate development in Usulul Fiqh?

-Or is it simply a front for dissembling.deconstructing Islam to suite liberal ideological dominance?

Note:
No less than 1000 words according to APA criteria.
Answers/papers are due by the end of the week, and a surprise quiz will administered for next week.
