Default Body Twitches/Shakes/Jerks as im falling asleep
Salaam,
Recently I have noticed that as im falling asleep my body does a quick twitch/jerk type thing.
I remember this happening since I was younger and comes and goes.
Recently got married and my Mrs has noticed it as well sometimes it is a slight jerk from my body and other times it is a bit more intense jerk it happens for a split second I open my eyes .. and then go back to sleep.

I do have a habit of reading Isha latish (often just before i go to sleep) so i am in wudhu and read my quls blow in my hands and wipe all over and aytal kursi.

Any ideas what this could be ?

I think this is normal, it happens to me too, as if you jump when your scared and it awakens you and shakes your whole body

not sure why it happens, lol i sometimes randomly do it whilst being awake too...my mum once said it means your qabr is remembering you lol (i don't think that's true)

Assalaamu'alaikum,

I think I recall from my studies that this is quite common, and it is basically just your nervous system adjusting to 'sleep mode' so it may fire off random reflexes which cause you to twitch.

Wallahu a'lam

It's called a myoclonic jerk.

its a normal response of the body when its trying to "switch" off. Some people twitch more violently than others and it may happen when you're just about to fall asleep, or when you've been in deep sleep for a while.
