Asalaam, i am new to this forum, i need sum help in purifying my heart and soul

i go to ida academy in leicster and i love the way Shaykh Mohammad Saleem Dhorat delievers biyaans, they have a real affect on me allhamdulillah, but i feel i'm lacking sumthing inside alot, i feel my heart is diseased and my soul is filthy, i understand the respected Shaykh is a spiritual doctor, but i would be grateful if any bros who are his maureeds would tell me how to go about asking Shaykh to be a maureed, and what are the benefits of purifying soul and heart.. soz if this neva made sense

Those of us on the forum who have a Shaikh will tell you that "whoever travels without a guide needs two hundred years for a two-day journey" (Jelaleddin Rumi Mewlana). I wouldn't know how bay'at is done with the Shaikh you mentioned, but probably the easiest thing is to speak to his Murids.

The benefits of purifying the heart and soul - through dhikr above all else - are limitless. The "umbrella" benefit is moving closer to Allah, and the evolution of your nafs from the animal level to the Allah-serving level.

All of us have diseased hearts when we first approach our Shaykh, and all true Shaykhs (Murshids) are spiritual doctors. But don'T expect to be hit by an invisible magic wand and suddenly become a pure, Noor-filled sufi! It may happen to one murid in a million, through Allah's perfect will, but usually taking a Shaikh is the start of an arduous journey.

One of the wali once said: "So long as the murids buzz like bees, we'll make the honey."

Meaning, so long as we struggle and work hard to follow our Murshid's guidance, the Murshid will pray for us and we'll make progress. Insha'Allah.
