well thats a question you should ask yourself....will rasoolAllah be pleased with me marching in the streets one day a year and shouting slogans...or will he be pleased if you do what he instructed and follow his sunnah as closely as you can every minute of everyday?

Masha'Allah... +1.

While marching on the streets is one example, I believe the same goes for having 'gatherings' in one's house just for that one day, etc.

Allah knows best.

and dont forget to block the traffic when shoppers are trying to do last minute shopping at their local supermarket before it closes at 4 PM on a Sunday

I think there is no need to march on a street, because like Shaykh hamza yusuf says, we shouldnt set a date to the Milad (birth) of the prophet. Rather we should celebrate it every moments of our lives! MashAllah, what an advice.

And for those who DO march, we should'nt condemn them, im not barelvi or deobandi, but you guys SERIOIUSLY need to get a common ground (which I belive you do)
