by dod, do u mean dhAAd??? makhraj of dhAAd is where the side (left or right, left is easier) of the tongue meets the roots of upper five teeth (left or right) at the back of the mouth beware, many people make this mistake nowadays, and meaning changes. e.g {in urdu} MARDH (sickeness) isnt equal to MARD (man) |

Salam alaikum
Brother, it would be wrong for a faqih to issue a general fatwa that the salah led by nonarabic speaking Muslims who butcher even al fatiha is invalid. And one is right to beware of the temptations to seek authority over your elders, especially if you see in them ikhlas. How many decades have they been praying? How many good deeds have they done compared to you? If the imam of your family prayers fails notably, why not gently invite an alim to your home or family gatherings to recite Quran and to gently encourage excellence in worship of Allah? I recall the athar of an old man incorrectly performing wudu` while Hussein and Hassan (ra) were watching and were still kids. But instead of scolding the man, or publicly berating him, they performed after him, but one of them intentionally made a mistake like the old man's. The other of the brothers gently commented to his brother: no, that is incorrect, you should do it as such... The old man saw this and said alhamdulillah, these youth taught me the deen. Gentleness with the believers. Harshness for the disbelievers. And Allah knows best. |

The other of the brothers gently commented to his brother: no, that is incorrect, you should do it as such... The old man saw this and said alhamdulillah, these youth taught me the deen. The brothers (^alayhun salaam) asked the older man to judge between them, who performs wudu' better, and when they concluded, and noticing how well they performed wudu', he stated that he doesnt know how to perform wudu' properly and so asked them to help him. Just thought I'd correct it as to it being narrated a little clearer, please excuse me for any offence. I have been taught from the Shafi^i madhhab ruling on the pronounciation, I have been taught that if the meaning of the word changes by the mistake, then the fatiha is not valid. The Fatiha being an integral of the prayer is invalidated and so therefore so is the prayer. Qur'an reciatation must be taken by talaqiyy, and it is sinful for one to sit at home reading from the qur'an with NO intention to learn or read in front of a learned. As we know, The Rasool ^alayhi salaam mentioned that one of the cursed is the one who adds to the Qur'an, so to add an alif, waw or yaa' (mad tabee^i) then this is sinful. Also, knowledge of the exit of the letter from ones mouth needs to be learnt if one wishes to recite the Qur'an and is a must for the validation of the prayer. Its part of the obligatory knowledge, which is upon every accountable muslim to learn. May Allaah ^azzawajal make us knowledgable in the recitation of the Qur'an. As I hope someone will correct me when I make a mistake, I do correct others if there is a need for it. Obviously using compassion and sympathy. I do not think anyone will get upset. I have yet to come accross anyone who got upset, and alhumdulillaah, I havent gotten upset either. |

If someone doesnt have good tajweed its not a problem, if someone is actually mispronouncing the letters then they have changed the meaning of the qur'an and it is impermissable to pray behind them and it shocks me that brothers are ok to tell you to pray behind one who changes the meaning of teh qur'an yet they say you cant pray behind a salafi because he wipes over his socks. SubhanAllah, this forum is a great reminder to me of why I should never follow sufism

as for advising teh brother, advise shoudl always be done it private so pull him to the side and inform him that he is changing teh meaning of teh qur'an with his incorrect pronounciation and that it is a serious affair and not that difficult to rectify. Make sure if you do pray behind him that you repeat the salah afterwards as your salah is not valid. Wallahu a'lam

SubhanAllah, this forum is a great reminder to me of why I should never follow sufism What has sufism to do with anything? I think your bringing up of sufism in almost every thread is a clear cut case of your ignorance of the religion for you dont even know the meaning of sufi. And Im talking about true sufis, not the fake ones, obviously. A sufi is someone with the correct 6aqidah, who covers his/her unlawful nakedness with the unwoven wool of the sheep and is satisfied by it, fulfill the obligations, abstain from the sins, bid the lawful, forbid the unlawful, eat little, sleep little, worship alot, cry alot and so on. You seem to shaken by this concept that is true sufism, is it because you are unable to find one amongst the leaders of your diseased leaders David? Do not look, for your leaders have already failed on the first condition listed of being a sufi. |

i would like an answer to this (esp the bold part) myself...i am learning tajweed and havent mastered it yet. sometimes i over pronounce aen so that it nearly sounds like a gha (or ghayn) but not completely. so i guess its halfway between aen and ghayn...that too in tasleem. does that nullify my salat? from what i read in sunni paths answer in one of the comments on this thread, major mispronunciation in integral parts of prayer (like al-fatiha) nullifies prayer. so does major mispronunciation in non-integral parts nullify salah too?(for example tasleem) any help in this regard will be appreciated. jazak Allah khair |
