Please:
1). Praise Allah 2). Send salawaat on the Prophet SAW 3). Do du'aa to Allah to open up the doors of opportunity and strength to let me quit university and go study Islam. I've lost all interest in University, especially since I am using interest loans to pay for it. My sister said it's possible that she can pay £3k and my father another £3k but the fact is I want to study Islam intensively with my other interests (Math & Physics) studied in my spare time. To be completely honest, certainly Maths is something that you can teach yourself. I have spent christmas holidays learning the first half of my math module completely on my own (I stopped going to lectures halfway and didn't look at my notes from the first half). Math is a discipline that with the www you can teach yourself. I don't see why waste £6k of my families money and get another £3k in government grant to pay for something you can do on your own? Sure you get a respected paper at the end of it, but I want to study Islam and teach in a madrasah. Muslims have lost the wordly sciences, there was a time when we were at the forefront but we sort of dropped off the radar. I would like to teach Maths and Physics at Madrasah and try to revive this aspect in whatever way I can. I find it difficult to believe that madrasah will care whether I have a degree or not, as long as I know my subject well and can teach it which alhamdulillah I seem to be able to do. I can already teach A-Level alhamdulillah even though I have no qualification which says I can but I have held private classes before for free teaching my friends in a classroom environment. Anyway, I want to talk to my father today and propose dropping out of uni. It may not go down very well so please take 5m to do duaa to Allah SWT to make it easy for me to go through with, for my family to accept, and to make the future bright. Ameen |

Bro I'm just waiting for my mother and father to wake up before I break the news to them. @HighHopes: Jazaakillah sister. Sometimes I wonder is this the right decision especially when my sister is giving me a way out of the riba. There is a tiny bit of me that is saying alhamdulillah you've been gifted with being good at maths and physics why not go and finish it and benefit the ummah that way? Whether that is sense or shaythaan I have a hard time distinguishing. But I think I will stick to my guns, after all, as I said I have taught myself via the internet the first half of my course. I think I can still benefit the ummah by teaching Maths and Physics I just dont think £9k every year for 3/4 years is a good spend of money unless you want to go into a truly professional career. For teaching though I dont think its necessary. |

Alhamdulillah! It is so uplifting to see someone doing the same exact same thing as me and with the same intentions! My email is -clip- please do get in touch. All but one of my family and friends disagreed with me going to study Islam and urged me to finish university first. But the riba has me very worried and it's all I've been thinking about. P.S. posting e-mail addresses is not allowed. only mods can give us others' e-mails. sorry for that, kindly remove your e-mail. |

:bismillah:
My brother, I don’t think you can ever go wrong by putting the deen before other sciences. It’s worth it just for the qualities that we derive from studying and internalizing the deen which, to me, are absolutely priceless. By studying this deen, we develop TAWAKKUL such that no goal is unattainable and no threat is undefeatable! Laaillaaha illa laah! We develop COURAGE and FEARLESSNESS because we know all power belongs to Allah SWT exclusively and all creation is powerless “like birds in a cage” (I believe this was said by Khalid bin Walid RA in the battlefield about the enemy once. Subhan Allah). And If someone is granted these two qualities alone, I’d argue they have everything ... My brother, I think you should go ahead with your plan even if your parents disapprove. By Allah SWT, you don’t need them and I say that in the most respectful way. All you need is Allah SWT and if you strive to believe that my brother, I’m 100000% sure He SWT will make so extremely pleased and satisfied in all your affairs. Finally, I’m positive if you go off to study the deen full-time my brother, Allah SWT will make a way, a very beautiful way, for you to benefit others with your gift in mathematics. By Allah SWT, I’m sure of that. Barak Allah my two brothers may Allah SWT make it easy for you and give you the guts (lol) you need to realize this wonderful and fantastic and superb and amazing goal. Amin everyone!! |

How did it go my brother? Good? Wonderful!! Not good? Then Allah SWT is just testing you and you shouldn’t give up on it. Though things now seem risky, in reality they aren’t and you will succeed my brother b’idnillah. You and Abul Lais should definitely work on a smart and exciting plan and should go for it! Truly, as long as you keep trusting in Allah SWT, He SWT will be right there taking care of you more than your parents ever could. I really believe that you guys will succeed fantastically if you do this and you’ll never regret it. May Allah make you great pious scholars that history remembers and that stand out honorably on the Day of Judgment. Amin ya Rabb!!! Amin everyone!! Barak Allah
