Default Talbina - From the miraculous medicine of the prophet Muhammad (SAW)
Assalaamaulaykum,

I went to the local chemist the other day and saw this shelf full of talbina. First time iv ever heard of it, subhanAllah its really good. Its made from the flour of barley and its bran. You put a spoon of the powder in a cup of cold water, heat it. Then pour into a cup of boiled milk and mix with honey or sugar. (really easy).

it says on the pack:

Talbina - From the miraculous medicine of the prophet Muhammad (SAW)

"Talbina is a cure for a sick persons heart and relieves him from some sorrows." related by Bukhari and Muslim.

It reduces cholestrol and strengthens the heart,
Protects from cancer, alzheimer and delays ageing,
Treats depression and releives sorrow,
Treats diabetes, mellitus and hypertension,
Treats laxative and cole sedative,
And has no side effects.

Both the prophets (SAW) Sunnah and modern scientific research have proved that Talbina cures many diseases and can be used as a medicine.

Its easy to make and tastes nice aswell, Especially with honey.

iv been having it everyday since i bought it and Alhamdulillah it really works. It calms you down and relaxes you. We should also have a spoon of black seed oil a day as thats a cure from all sicknesses apart from death.

Only place iv seen it (Talbina) is in Moins chemist on East park road (Leicester). Has anyone else tried it?

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "I left the Quran and my Sunnah among you. if you hold on to them, you wont go astray after me".

Stick to the Sunnah InshAllah

Assalamu 'alaykum,

It sounds very much like a dessert called 'Sujji Ka Halva' - thats a dessert made from those EXACT ingedients except that the main flour used is semolina and not barley. I wonder if Sujji ka halva began with Barley as it's main ingredient and over the years changed to semolina...

JazakAllahu khairan for the idea - could try it with Barley instead!

BarakAllah, it might be similar.
I found this on sunnipath:

VIII. Al-talbina* for someone who is ill

5365. It is related from 'Urwa that 'A'isha used to command that talbina be prepared for a sick person and for someone suffering grief due to the loss of someone. She said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Talbina gives rest to the heart of the sick person and removes some of his sorrow."

5366. It is related from Hisham's father ('Urwa) that 'A'isha used to command that talbina [be prepared] and said, "It is nasty but is beneficial."

[* Talbina is a soup made of flour or bran and milk and sweetened with honey.]

Assalamu Alaykum,

I would like to ask where I can find the AT-TALIBA.

I am trying to find the product and only found it available in Leceister.
I have been trying to find the product and then to buy it, but I only find the tablets and supplements.
Could you please send me some more information about it -
(whether it is raw?
mixed with another product?
etc)

I live in London and would like somewhere more convenient.

Is there any stores in London?
Or can I buy online from any stores?

Mashallah I'd love to try this too.

Br. Omar Farouk is there a picture of this product?/can you upload a pic/link? Any chance of asking the Moins chemist manager where he got it from?

Just found this link on some of its benefits :

Try Bee Venom too. This is taken from the belly of the humble honey bee and it has cures for many diseases as stated in the Quraan.

It's expensive but it has 100x the anti inflammatory properties of the strongest steroids, without the side effects. Perfect for arthritis sufferers.

Who gave this knowledge to our prophet pbuh because it wasn't known 1400 years ago!

This is how it can be made at home...

This is how I've made it...

Wash barley if required

Soak overnight in water the required amount of barley (half a cup makes more than you first think)

Drain MOST of the water from the barley.

Place barley in a blender and blend until is somewhat fine.

Place barley in a milk pan and add some milk.

Heat the mixture stirring all the while, until it bubbles. Add more milk as required until the Talbina is only as thick as porridge might be.

Honey can be added to taste when served or whilst heating the mixture up. Source: Talbina

Assalamu Alaykum everyone.

I purchased a seed version of Barley today.
It is called "Pearl Barley".

It is available here:

http://www.asda.com/asda_shop/rc04_p...us=I&on_promo=

Is there any different between the Pearl Barley and the Barley Flour?

I don't know sis - i reckon so...

Taken from Wiki - Barley must have its fibrous outer hull removed before it can be eaten. Barley grains with their hulls still on are called covered barley or 'hulled barley". Once the grain has had the inedible hull removed, it is called dehulled barley. At this stage, the grain still has its bran and germ, which are nutritious. Dehulled barley is considered a whole grain, and is a popular health food. Pearl barley or pearled barley is hulled barley which has been processed further to remove the bran. It may be polished, a process known as "pearling". Dehulled or pearl barley may be processed into a variety of barley products, including flour, flakes similar to oatmeal, and grits.

According to a recent study,[8] eating whole grain barley can regulate blood sugar for up to 10 hrs after consumption compared to white or even whole-grain wheat, which has a similar glycemic index.

Why did Aisha (ra) said that Talbina was "nasty" in taste? Another book "Suyuti's Medicine of the Prophet" quotes her as saying that Talabina was "awful".

Is she (ra) talking about the same food/drink? Or is this another "Talabina"?

(Maybe Aisha (ra) simply personally did not like Talabina... )
