Default Help with audio stereo mix option
Assalamu Alaikum,

I have windows vista 32-bit,

I need to record some classes that are conducted on paltalk and wiziq so I use hypercam and audacity. But I use headphones, and i want to record the lesson audio - not using the speaker option, but the stereo mix option.

The problem is it doesn't record anything.

can someone please help? I've been trying different things for months now, but don't know what to do!

Wa alaykum assalam

This became somewhat more difficult in Windows Vista/7, but usually it is still possible. There are a few factors, though, but the most important one is the audio drivers you have installed. Try this first http://downloadsquad.switched.com/20...ding-in-vista/ and let me know if it works for you. If not I have a few other suggestions. Also keep in mind, "stereo mix" has alternate names depending on the sound card, such as "What-U-Hear" and "wave out mix" and "mono mix" etc.

The "stereo mix" option shows up on my "recording devices" list, but even when I set it as default, it doesn't record any sound from the computer.

I have Realtek audio driver installed as well, but now sound recorded.

Hmm, well I would make sure that stereo mix is the input source in Audacity. Are you using a USB headset or normal (that plugs in to the mic jack)?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand you, does that mean it is working now?

I have USB headset

Stereo mix is there and I can choose it , but no audio is recorded. Maybe it's the headset.

If it doesn't work, I guess I'll record using speakers, by removing the headset.

Oh yes, if the audio is being outputted to the USB headset then stereo mix definitely won't work. Try to see if your USB headset is listed as an audio device to use as a recording source in Audacity. (If it's not there, see if it is in that list of recording devices mentioned earlier.) My USB headset is usable as a recording source.

the headset doesn't show up on recording tab under recording devices, only under playback devices. Only its mic is there in the option.

I found this
http://www.gamereplays.org/heroesofn...sh&tab=8054314

it shows the "listen" option under the properties of the USB headset, but I don't have it.

I have IDT High Def Codec, and Jabra GN 2000 USB headset
