AoA,
I want to ask this question that what are the best practices to be performed by loved ones of the person who is just die. I want details from the time his/her body is still at his/her home till he/she is buried and after that. The motivation of this question is the observation of some practices like 1) they bring his/her body at home and people cry for him/her ... (some recite quran though) 2) then his janaza is performed and he is buried 3) After 3/4 days (or more), his/her quran khwani is done where after quran khwani people are offered different items to eat. People say that because its mostly poor people who come to eat so its legal. I want to know abt the best legal (according to shariah) practices for his/her children and friends or relatives to perform during these circumstances i.e. just after his/her death. thanks |

AoA, Brother Following hadiths may give u a guide line to do something according to shariah. Hadiths r showing how a dead person can get benefit after death. MUSLIM-Chapter 3 :THE DECEASED IS ENTITLED TO REWARD FOR THE SADAQA GIVEN AFTER HIS DEATH Muslim: Book 13, Number 4001: Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported that a person said to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) : My father died and left behind property without making any will regarding it. Would he be relieved of the burden of his sing if I give sadaqa on his behalf ? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yea. Muslim: Book 13, Number 4002: A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that a man said to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) : My mother died all of a sudden, and I think if she (could have the opportunity) to speak she would have (made a will) regarding Sadaqa'. Will I be entitled to reward if I give charity on her behalf ? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes. MUSLIM-Chapter 4 : WHAT REWARD MAN GETS AFTER HIS DEATH Muslim: Book 13, Number 4005: Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased). Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 92, Number 418: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A woman came to the Prophet and said, "My mother vowed to perform the Hajj but she died before performing it. Should I perform the Hajj on her behalf?" He said, "Yes! Perform the Hajj on her behalf. See, if your mother had been in debt, would you have paid her debt?" She said, "Yes." He said, "So you should pay what is for Him as Allah has more right that one should fulfill one's obligations to Him. " |
