Does anybody know of a dua or anything else I can do make high hopes go away?? I am a person with alot of hope in everything and anything. I had high hopes in a certain part of my life while back. Something which was not possible. It took me while to get over, alhumdillah I did with the help of Allah swt. But recently I've had some dreams lately and I know these dreams are very likely my nufs. But my hopes are starting to rise again and I'm very worried I will only hurt myself at the end if I let myself divulge in these fantasies. Any sort of dua/advice greatly appreciated. Jazakallah khair for reading |

I am a person with alot of hope in everything and anything. I think my sister having high hopes I terms of deen (e.g. entering the highest jannah, becoming a wali) is commendable and 1000% realizable with the help of Allah SWT. We shouldn’t, however, put our hope in dunyawi things like getting a certain job etc. Instead we ought to be content with the decree of Allah SWT if things don’t go as we like because truly what Allah SWT decides is always best. That’s my cent and half. barakAllahu feeka my sister May Allah SWT grant you contentment and great sucess in the aakhira! Amin! |

i think there needs to be a balance here because getting rid of high hopes alltogether will make a person a negative person...i know this because i do it too lol, always expect the worst so you don't feel so let down when it finally happens!
But then again if we make dua for something and want something we should have tawakkul in Allah and Allah is to his servants as they think of him...so if we make dua for something and in our mind also think well its never going to happen it shows that we don't have tawakkul...i think we should have a balance here and pray for that which we want but ask for it only if it will be good for us...so even if we don't get it in the end we must know that Allah has something better planned for us and maybe that which we are asking for is no good for us wallahu alam...i hope that made sense |

for the duas. I've read it and already feel better, alhumdillah. Just need to make it a routine, insha'allah.
Sis High Hopes (I was thinking of you as I opened this thread ) and Aram ... yes, I agree ... we should never give up hope and I had a hard time expressing my feelings whilst opening the thread. It happens to me sometimes. I read it again after while and realised 'false hopes' was the better term/scenario. The 'hope' I have will never come true (certainly not without hurting other ppl and definitely not something I can actually ask for in my duas.) If its something I want but cannot ask for in my duas, I call it false hope ... I mean if I can't make dua to Allah swt and say grant me 'this', there shouldn';t be any hope I will have it either? otherwise its letting the shaytaan getting the best of me ... the higher my hopes become in a matter that doesn't look possible, the more 'sins' the shaytaan may lure me into trying to obtain that goal? When does one draw the line? |

Although we do have hopes and we can have hopes and make duaa to Allah SWT to fulfil it, we should be moderate and here are some duaas which will help us to set our mind in a right direction inshaaAllah. There is a saying that the man's strength lies in his hopes. Allahu alam Allahumma maa qasura ‘anhu ra’yee wa dha’ufa ‘anhu ‘amalee, wa lam tablugh-hu munyatee wa mas'alati min khayrin wa ‘adtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw khayrin anta mua’teehi ahadan min ibaadik, fa innee arghabu ilayka feeh, wa as’aluka birahmatika yaa rabbal ‘aalameen. O Allah! The good which my opinion had failed to accomplish, which my actions have been too weak (to fulfil) and which my hopes have not reached and my asking of any good which You had promised to anyone from Your creation, or any good which You are going to give to anyone of Your servants-then I certainly desire these from You and I ask You (for these) through Your mercy, O sustainer of the worlds! Allahummaghfirli dhanbi wa wassiali khuluqi wa tayyibli kasbi wa qanniani bimaa razaqtani walaa tudhhib talabi talabee ilaa shay'in saraftahu anni O Allah! forgive my sins, give expansion to my character, make lawful my earnings, give me contentment in whatever You provided me and do not make me quest something which You have turned away from me. Allahumma laa tajaliddunya akbara hamminaa walaa mablagha ilmana walaa ghaayata raghbatinaa O Allah! Do not make the world our main object, nor the extent of our knowledge, nor the limit of our desire. Allaahumma innii dha’iifun faqawwi fii ridhaaka dha’fii, wa khudz ilaal khairi bina shiyatii, waj’alil islaama muntahaa ridhaa'iiwa wa innii dhaliilun fa-a ‘izzanii wa innii faqiirun farzuqni. O Allah! I am weak, give strength, then, to my weakness by Your pleasure and take me by my forelock, towards good and make islam the limit of my desire. I am disgraced, so give me honor. I am poor, so give me sustenance. Allahumma as'aluka maa qadaitali min amri an taj'ala aaqibatahu rushdaa O Allah! I ask You that whatever You have decided for me, the outcome of it should be good. |

How beautiful are those duas masha Allah. Jazaki Allahu khair my sister mercyofAllah and barak Allahu feeki
@my sister hayya If there’s something you want but can’t have my sister, just ask Him SWT for sth better. That’s so easy for our Loving and Gracious Lord Who always only wants the best for us. May we all appreciate and regard Him SWT as He SWT loves. Amin. |
