From what I understand (and please correct if I'm wrong) ... when we dream of other people, we have actually met with their soul? So if I see my brother in dream, it is our souls that are connecting? Is this also true for the deceased? So my next question if all above the is true ... how is that we meet the souls of deceased in our dreams? I thought souls only remained their grave until the day of judgement? (If my post is in the wrong section, can a mod please move it on my behalf) |

"Barzakh" (in Urdu) is a time where our souls are shifted after death. Barzakh is a curtain between life of world and hereafter. Someone when goes into barzakh cannot contact with anybody not in barzakh. |

nabeelshams bro - so souls in 'barzakh' can meet each other?
When we sleep, our souls taken are into barzakh, are they not? Living souls are returned but Allah swt holds the ones that are deceased. NNoor bro - any daleel regarding some souls are allowed to leave their graves? when you say this, do you mean they can roam around Earth? |

This is not correct. The souls of certain people are allowed to leave their graves. One example is the prophets. So it is possible when you see someone in a dream, that you have met their soul, but it is also possible that the dream may simply be a creation of your mind. |

Sister hayya The Soul's Journey After Death This important book covers an area about which most people have very little knowledge but which is at the same time, of vital interest to all human beings. It outlines what happens to the human soul from the moment of death until the arrival of the Day of Judgement. It describes the death profess itself, the exact relationship of the soul to the body, the states of the soul after it leaves this world, and the nature of the ongoing relationship between the dead and those who are still alive. Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah was born into a scholarly and virtuous family in 691 AH/ 1292 A.D. At that time Damascus was a centre of literature and thought. Many schools were located there and he studied and graduated under the protection, direction and sponsorship of his father. He was particularly influenced by his Shaykh and teacher Ahmad b. Taymiyyah, and also by Ibn ash-Shirazi amongst others. Layla Mabrouk, an eminent, contemporary, Egyptian scholar has skillfully abridged a classic work by the well know scholar. Download |

Graves are places but Barzakh is not a place. it is kind of another world running parallel to this world. Souls of common people cannot leave that world to communicate with others. If you see any common person in dream, it is by no means true that you met his/her soul. jazazkallah As I said before, whether or not a soul is allowed to travel around in barzakh is up to Allah. If He wills, he can allow even the soul of a commoner to travel. So if you see a person in a dream, it may or may not be the case that your soul has met their soul. And Allah knows best. |

I request other SF members to contribute to this thread too.Death and after death...is a very important topic for all of us. I do not understand akhi - why should we speculate more than given to us in the Qur'an and Sunnah? If it was necessary for us it would have been given to us by Allah (SWT) - He knows our necessities more than us. No offense intended. Wallualam. Wassalam |

The Qur'aan states with regards to the soul: 17_85.jpg And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little." Like one of the members have mentioned Kitubur Ruh by Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah will be a good read. I have read the abridged version of this book called; The Soul's Journey After Death, which addresses what is being discussed in this thread. |
