Has anyone done the book of assistance course at qibla? I'm thinking about doing it but it's $200, for an hour and a half a week. http://seekersguidance.org/courses |

My brother, perhaps one of these courses which are far more reasonably priced might be of interest to you: |

As salaam Alaykum,
There are four courses you can take for free at http://www.islamicrenaissance.net/ Below are the courses, they are on going courses, the only complete course is Safinat Najah. I think Aqidah Tahawi might be complete not sure, but the other two are currently ongoing. If you need the next for the classes you have to sign up and ask someone to e-mail it to you. Shafi’i fiqh The text used for the first shafi’i fiqh class is Safinat al Naja. The next class uses Abu Shuja’a. Aqidah The text used in aqidah is the Tahawiyyah. The Book of Assistance This class uses the Book of Assistance by Imam ‘Abdallah Ibn Alawi al-Haddad. |

With Qibla as well if you genuinely need financial aid then they may reduce the price of your course entirely or partially. Al hamdu lillah I can take 1 free course per semester due to my financial needs. However, there are deadlines by which you have to send your application. This semester, the deadline has already passed.

All of them? If so, is this a temporary policy or semi-permanent? Furthermore, are there any courses that one can still sign up for? (as all the ones that I've clicked on had their registration closed) You can take up to 2 free courses per term. I think there is a registration limit as well. I think it is permanent due to their "Knowledge without barriers" initiative. InshaAllah next time! |

As far as I understand, there is a basic ijazah after you have studied the juz 'amma and memorised to pass it down, but obviously they emphasise that you go further and do more study, recite the whole Qur'an or memorise the whole Qur'an to a qualified teacher. Generally there courses do not have ijazah, but if you follow a curriculum like the foundations diploma you will get the diploma and a note that you can teach what you have learnt, but this is not an ijazah technically. To actually get an ijazah in any science you will have to complete the whole seekers curriculum/associates degree and then study a text formally with any teacher to get an ijazah inshaa Allah. The seekers takes about 2-5 years on average and in it you get a strong grasp of the 'Arabic language (by completing the miftah diploma) and you will also inshaa Allah study, fiqh, little amount of tafseer, etc Note: They usually teach everything in English, even some of the Arabic texts ( what I mean is that some of them are translated and you study the translation of the text). Though, later on if you succeed inshaa Allah you can go and study texts for ijazah inshaa Allah and I am quite sure they will have to be in 'Arabic and by that time inshaa Allah you will be confident. I am just deducing from my own experience with them, I maybe wrong, may Allah forgive me if I am. |
