As-salamu 'alaykum,
I have been wondering about this for some time... Are there different kinds of Tablighis? I met Tablighis in the UK who were of course Hanafis and regular Sunnis in appearance etc. Where I live there are few TJ and they are a mix of Arabs and Kurds and only attend the Wahhabi masjid and blend in with the Salafis there. One of the board members there is a TJ-brother... I know some of those brothers from when I used to be a Salafi and they have very Salafistic views and some of them are even what I would call "Takfiris" (constantly going on and on about the Arab leaders). Maybe some of the TJ brothers on the forum could explain this anomaly. |

TJ's (Tablighi Jamat members) come is all shapes and sizes.. Actually you would meet arab , non-arab, wahabi, deos, easy going barelwies etc all there.. So it would not be something out of thaaat ordinary to meet a salafi tablighi. But what is important is do these salafies actually go for chilla and 3 days etc? mostly the Salafi TJs I have met are just for the sake of it Salafies.. |

You know in masses many people are influenced by one or the other ideology. Forexample look at all these MSA and ISNA etc .. every new kid goes to university and joins in, gets in their colour.. but they dont realize that MSA's basic halaqa gatherings and structures are an influence from Maudoodi's understanding of deen. Similarly, Since the salafi people are very affective in their appearence or speech etc,, you know ya3ni, Allahumsta3aan, AstaghfatAllah.. they all create an impact and some people though have no idea of the vastness in salafi ideology, join in like a cult. Similarly some people join the TJ as a cult too.. normally youngsters..since it will provide them an acceptable umbrella to have the group of friends.. The parents are happy the kids are in TJ and the kids are happy the parents are off their back |

assalamualaikum
sidi there has been discussion about the involvement of people from all parts of the spectrum in the work of tabligh in other threads. Ive seen, in addition to what bro abu hajira has said - jamaat islami - hizb ut tahrir - strict ahlul hadith ( subcontinental ) - saudi salafis/hanbalis - even a deejay who used to deejay for armani parties involved in the work of tabligh. Sometimes when I enquired about their aqeedah or political ideology..... what most of them said was in the line of whatever it may be TJ is not w/o its benefits...which is why they wanted to be involved. |

well if doing itikaaf in mosque like tj's, dawah and brotherhood/togetherness and the sort of 'tarbiyah' or 'boy/men scouts' orientation of the TJ practices are of need to help us get close to Allah, and it's needed by most people these days, then why not.
So a lot of people from differing backgrounds go for personal benefit, some go to help others specifically etc. It's become a tool for many people, which is good i guess |

As people differ from each other the same goes for the People in Tabligh... Tabligh is in every country and mostly people from every nationality r into this. Even on the far island like Fiji u can find a Tableeghi MashAllah....... The hardcore r the Pathans from Afghanistan n Pakistan.... They have the same habits like the Sahaba RAD. Simple , down to earth, In Mujahida etc.... I have met many Tableeghis from mostly all the countries but the sober ones r the Pathans .......

There are many types of TJ. TJ do not allow any talks that can cause missunderstanding. Whatever a TJ does outside is not mandated by the TJ. So you get salafist TJ, Sufi TJ, Wahabyte TJ. they come in all colours and shades. The only thing they have common is the 6 points : ). This is their strength. I have instructed to go elsewhere by a scholar affiated with the TJ because of my temperment! As long as i was with the TJ, I stayed away from arguments as much as i can. Generally a sincere TJ don't vent against any muslim regardless of their orientation as it violates the idea of Ikramul Muslimin and Seeking knowlege. Not all can live up to these conditions.
