You should avoid it. The judge of any case in the UK is a taghut.

Are you a student? Maybe there's a dispensation for students. Other countries have that. When I say 'avoid it' I don't mean like, flee to Russia- I mean get out of it somehow.

Assalam Alaikum

I know of some one who said he couldn't do it for spiritual (religious) reasons and he got out of it.

Im in the US, so I dont know if things are different, but I get called for Jury dutyn all the time, and before you are selected, you have to fill out a questionaire. On every page of the questionaire I just wrote "Its against my religion to convict a person of a crime I did not witness" in big bold letters on every page. The lawyers who choose Jurrors see this and realise that if you are picked, you will be a problem jurror and cause either a mistrial or a innocent verdict no matter what, so they dont ever select me. The only problem is I have to spend 6 hours in a court room every 2 to 4 years for no reason.

No offense, but why don't you want to serve in the jury? It is a citizen's civic right and duty. It exists for a reason. It is part of the check and balance system of the country. It was developed so that a single institution doesn't become too-powerful and consequently oppressive. If the Prime Minister is the prosecutor, judge, and executor then we have a possible tyrant in our hands.

You have to tell the judge or his assistant that you need time to pray at noon, afternoon, and evening at specific times. The judge may give you breaks. Or, he may discharge you of duty because he doesn't want the trial to be suspended for a single juror.

Its because their 'laws' are most often not Shariah compliant.
