Bro Suhail, I suggest you to read any book (Islamic) under the guidance of a Scholar, you live in Hyderabad, don't you? Why don't you ask bro 'not known or muhammad shuaib' and befriend a Scholar over there, SF should be a last resort.

Maudidi's translation is controvertial.

I would recommend Ali Unal's Translation. There are a lot of footnotes so its easier to understand the translation.

This work should be binned. The person concerned was not learning in tafseer and is greatly influenced by then political upheavl (carl marx, socialism). His earlier work was very good but his latter work caused many of his supporter to leave the organisation and was thoroughly rebuttled. He also criticised many of the prophets and Salf us salheen as if he was more learned then the prophet and people of first 4 generation.
One would get the idea relegion is nothing more then a form of ism. Islam is not an ism.
Stick to orthodoxy. Mariful Quran takes from all the classical tafseers and relates it to contemporary world. Once you have gone through mariful Quran venture into Tafseer e Jalalyn, Katheer, Qurdubi, Dariabadi, Bayanul Quran, Nurul Quran etc. but never Tahfimul quran by Mawdudi.
Thank you sir...thanks a lot

Salaam's.

as the Brother has merntioned Maudoodi sahib did not have any formal religious education and was initially a journalist by profession therefore his Tafseer has many flaws.

Here is a link to the Maariful Quran of Mufti Muhammad Shaafi (Ra)....http://www.islamibayanaat.com/EMQ.htm

Once upon a time long long ago there was a person. Actually yours truly itself. All besotted with Maulana Maudoodi. When I was singing paeans to Maulana a Kashmiri boy casually remarked that he also used to be a fan of Maulana. This was like an anti-climax. I did not blurt out, "What do you mean by was?" But the damage was done. And then I saw those characteristic remarks by the innovators about Maulana on the internet. And then some body's remark that he used to be fan of Maulana Maudoodi but he saw the light. He also suggested that Ma'arif-ul-Qur'an is better than Tafheem even if the literary style might not be of the same level. It only thickened the plot. It was quite some time before I got scared of Tafheem-ul-Qur'an. Some body suggested that I give it to a scholar. I could not fathom that scholars can read such things dispassionately and I was scared that my gift might endanger the faith of a scholar! I gave my six volume hard copy to an institution of Jama-at-e-Islami. Phew!

I wanted to tell the bro what you said, just thought he'll get confused as he is new, thats why I guided him to not known. Once he befriends an Ulema, he'll no longer take his Deen from the net. That was my idea.
