![]() I was looking for a well-written article related to Muslims and Christmas. I see a lot of people I know saying "merry christmas" and such, so just wanted to provide them with some food for thought and make them understand the problem with that. Now by well-written I mean it shouldn't be something that is either condescending or 'holier than thou' and hopefully a good flowing read. Put yourself in the feet of one of our brothers or sisters who try hard to fit in or who may see 'no harm' in celebrating non-Muslim holidays and traditions - something that would appeal to the 'modern' crowd in the west - of course hidaya is from Allah but just looking for something that delivers the message in a nice way. I did a search on the forums and there seems to be tons of debate, etc. but no real article explaining things well...just many people scolding each other or arguing. I'm sure there are pieces out there written by our scholars that would fit the above criteria - even a youtube video would do. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. ![]() |

![]() I believe you're referring to this verse in the Bible: 1 Hear what the LORD says to you, people of Israel. 2 This is what the LORD says: “Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them. 3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. 4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. 5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.” Jeremiah 10:1-5. |
