It was called Khandaq, meaning 'Trench' war. Thousands of sahabis together with Rasool Allah
![]() Bani Nadir (a Jewish tribe) went to Khaibar and gained sympathy of the people there, made an army of 10,000 and went to Madinah. RasoolAllah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There was no direct contact because of the trench standing between the two parties. The main weapon used was arrows. |

is this a hadith? if yeah then can you please tell me where i can find this hadeeth i.e is it from bukhari, muslim, tirmidhi etc etc? Jazakallah khair to all for replying, But i have a question hoping you can answer this too inshallah, Whilst doing my research i read that the kuffar army actually had 20'000 men and that the trench was built in 6 days, ive also found contradicting info on the dates i.e some kitabs say it took place in zul qa'dah and many internet websites say shawwal. Which one is correct? |

According to my seerah book, Rehmat e Alim (read in darul-uloom Buffalo) it took 20 days to build the trench by the hands of 3,000 people. And this battle took place in Dhul Qad'ah 5 Hijri Does anyone know what Khattab, father of hazrat umar (r.a) said regarding muslims, our teacher gave us a hint and said that a animal has summat to do with it. And also does anyone know who Umm Abdullah bint Abu Hathma was? and why hazrat Umar (r.a) cried when she left makkah due to the torture afflicted on them? Jazakallah khair to anyone who answers ![]() |

Ishaq mentions Umm 'Abdullah bint Abu Hathma ( Guillaume's tr, p155-6). 'Umar approached her and said, 'so you are leaving?' Umm 'Abdullah expected harsh words as at that time he was persecuting the Muslims in Mecca. He simply replied 'Allah be with you' and walked off. When she told her husband, he asked her if she thought he would convert and when she said 'I have hopes' he replied: 'His father's donkey will become a Muslim before he does.' As far as I know that's all that's known about her.
