A man told me that he intends on buying a nice sword to keep at his side during the prayer. He said that since it is a sunnah, it would add more barakah and perfection to the salah. I thought it was interesting. After all, who wouldn't want more concentration during the prayer especially by doing something so simple.

Can more people please comment. Is anything known about this?

Bro is there any hadith mentioning this. Did the Sahabah follow this too?
I have a feeling that its not an established sunnah.

Did sedentary people really walk around with swords back then? I think that's just a romanticization.

Not necessarily; if it was for utility purposes I'm sure a small blade would serve, but I've never read or heard that it was the practice of the Arabs to carry around weapons or swords in their daily life. Does anyone know anything about this?
