Army Raids Homes of Prisoners Freed in Swap Deal
Israeli forces overnight Sunday raided the homes of seven prisoners freed as part of the Oct. 18 prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel, a Ma'an correspondent reported.

Military vehicles entered the northern West Bank city of Qalqiliya overnight Sunday and issued summons to Akram Mansour, Shadi Zayid and Ibrahim Yasin to report to Israeli intelligence.

Mansour, who had been serving a life sentence since August 1979, took part in hunger strikes while in jail to protest prison conditions. He is suffering from brain cancer.

Soldiers also raided the homes of two former prisoners Nael and Fakhri Barghouthi in the central West Bank village of Kubar near Ramallah. The two cousins were also issued summons to report to Israeli intelligence.

Nael Barghouti was 20 when he was detained in April 1978. He was the longest serving Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails, having spent 33 years behind bars for alleged membership of an armed group.

The Jenin home of former detainee Adnan Zeid al-Kilani was also raided by soldiers, Ma'an's correspondent said.

On Sunday, the Israeli army raided the Ramallah home of former female prisoner Sumud Karaja, 23. Locals said that soldiers issued summons for Karaja to report to Israeli intelligence in the Ofer military base near her village of Saffa.

Karaja was among 27 female detainees released under the terms of the prisoner exchange deal. She had served three years of a 20-year sentence on charges of stabbing an Israeli soldier at the military checkpoint in Qalandiya, near Ramallah.

Israeli forces also raided the home of former female prisoner Latuifa Abu Thiraa late Sunday, a Ma'an reporter said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she had no reports of any of the incidents.

For the Israelis, Gaza was floating on weapons. One clip on YouTube shows an Israeli missile targeting a gas tank. In the aftermath of the explosion fire erupts. That is taken as a clear-cut proof. The target was a weapon store. Period. The clip soon hits over 200000 views and ZERO comments. IDF desk has disabled comments. No one has to ask why the IDF YouTube channel disabled the comments. Just take it as it is served to you. And say Amen.

We have been following no news agency but the Israeli Army Radio and press releases. We actually do not know how many were killed. 7? 10? 20? The press release is both accurate and elusive (yes you have to be accustomed to flagrant contradictions when depending on Israeli media): "the dead are more than 10"!

Commenting on videos and pictures is not generally allowed by Israeli media. No one has to question IDF clips. Israel has approved construction of more than 100 homes in the West Bank settlement of Shilo, Israeli settlement watchdog Peace Now said on Monday, a move likely to bring fresh international condemnation.
Peace Now official Hagit Ofran said that the approval came to light after the group petitioned Israel's Supreme Court in March to halt construction of an initial 50 housing units, prompting the court to request a government response.
A defence ministry spokesman told AFP that construction licences had been given retroactively for "units already under construction" while those still in the planning stage would require separate permits in order for work to begin.
Shilo currently has 195 permanent residences and a number of mobile homes. More than 310,000 Israelis live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and the number is constantly growing.
Another 200,000 live in a dozen settlement neighbourhoods in east Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel in 1967 and annexed in a move never recognised by the international community.
The international community considers all settlements in territories occupied by Israel since June 1967 are illegal, whether or not approved by its government.
