One thing we Muslims should do at these places where we are allowed to pray: Find out who is incharge of the religious services, the person who oversees the activities for the prayer room even if its just your boss at work then get a small "thank you" card and write a nice note in there "Thank you for providing a room for me to offer my prayers I greatly appreciate it." It will cost you a dollar or two, its a small gesture of appreciation but it goes a long way and it further makes it easy for yourself and other Muslims or Muslims who will be hired there in the future to offer salaah. It also gives the non Muslims an indication of just how serious we are about our prayers and what kind of relationship we have with our Creator. They will offer you their cards to make dua for them. |

Mashallah, a wonderful suggestion, everyone who works in a facility who has built a space for Muslims to pray should do this ia The thing about Jews is, like Fusus said, there are so many different "factions", you can't really lump them all together. Although Hasidim are generally the way we have described, I have met a few who are quite friendly. Orthodox Jews (that's a broad title, but I'm talking very generally), I've met two types. Either they're very nice, friendly to others, not isolated, and not racist. Or, they're the racist super-zionist stick-to-themselves types. Usually Jews who are only a few generations out of eastern Europe/ former USSR or Israel are the latter kind. The Americanized ones are generally nicer to others. But yes, at least they take their religion/culture seriously. Very serious about eating kosher food, not interacting with the opposite gender, etc. I worked with a Jewish guy once who used to wear the cap. Really nice guy. He had an arranged marriage in college, and has a couple of baby girls now, I think. He was working before applying to medical school while his wife went to law school. Once she graduats, he plans to go to med school and she'll support the family for a couple of years. Jews really help each other out. |

Truth is destines to prevail and falsehood is destined to perish. Jewish people have coined a doctrine of chosen-ness for themselves and that is not the truth. Allah(SWT) hasi contradicted them very poignantly. He(SWT) said that if they think they are so dear to Allah(SWT) (that He has chosen them) then ask them to wish for death (that way they shall be united with their beloved one). Allah(SWT) further adds that they shall never wish to die. Allah(SWT) did prefer them over other nations for He sent disproportionately large number of Prophets(AS) to that tribe. But the way they treated the Prophets(AS) is amongst the most unfortunate chapters of human history. After the end of the chain of Prophets(AS) that preference too is over as is clear from the tone employed by Lord Most High. The Jewish people too are obliged to follow Prophet of Islam (PBUH). Unfortunately they have been rejecting that for more than 1433 years. But you should be telling that to us Maulana. I know you have on the back of mind that Muslims should have all these properties that this tribe is manifesting but there will be always new comers here at SF so I have indulged in above cud-chewing. Wassalam |
