Default Some conversation with a person
I have been recently talking to a Muslim brother who I've had to deal with for work reasons. He has told me the following about his country (the name of the country I shall not mention as it will provoke some sensitivities) He mentioned some stuff including the following;

1. He proudly told me that his country is a model to the arab countries as they only follow moderate islam. He says they pray etc but at the same time have girlfriends, listen to music and do everything else. He says this is open minded unlike other arabs.

2. He says libyan people are backward. I told him that my experience has been the opposite and infact they waivered the storm of colonalism better than most muslim countries. I asked him what he meant by backwardness. He said he meant education.

3. He told me that many kuffar married the muslim girls from his country even as afar as South Korea. He said mostly this is the karamat of the internet.

4. He told me that the security services of his country would stop me as I wear my trousers above my ankles.

It was interesting though as many of his points reflected the condition of the muslims today.

Certain people of Muslim extraction are proudly nowadays showing off their Kufr, to the point that some of them who come from countries where there historically have been no disbelievers openly classify themselves as "Agnostic" in their profiles and so on. This is related to the education issue mentioned above, since due to modern education one learns to question every single thing without even knowing how or why questions should be raised. As a result people think that if they do not accept dogma, then they are forward looking and open minded, without asking whether open-mindedness is admissible in such a situation.

This also shows that even in places were there have historically been no Christians and Jews, the feeling that a person can openly call himself a disbeliever does not matter to them (even if it is only online), and they are not even scared that they will be discovered and brought to task for what they are saying.

All in all, it is a fulfillment of the prophecies related to the coming of the Hour.

Sometimes,it comes to my mind, that we did not handle the challange of westren cultural onslaught with wisdom. Most of us either chose to follow it blindly OR rejected it in totality;Probably the best way was the 'middle way'......ie take what is good and leave what is bad ! Westren civilization came to Muslim countries riding on the back of imperialistic victories both in the battle fields and on the stage of politics, giving them an edge from the beginning. Our ulema, who had, unfortunately ,not foreseen this storm coming had not prepared their defences. This lead to a panic like situation and therefore a disorganized response.
Orthodox Islamic circles responded in the only way they knew well, build Madrasas, and produce more Ulema as a force to counter the westren influence, but here again they under-estimated the challange. Those who are in power always have better means to spread their message.....and more resources to support their cause in the form of big salaries, levished houses, more benefits and more status.Such factiors obviously divide the society into Modren and Orthodox,......and ultimately these two become the rival forces. This is what happened in many Muslim countries, which unfortunately is still continueing.

Ask him if his moderate Islam allows banking based on usury ? Does his country have the balls to kick out the bankers ?
Does he like to be manipulated by the bankers ? More on bankers are here.

To that Muslim brother

Har Koi Mast-e-Mai-e-Zauq-e-Tan Asani Hai,
Tum Musalman Ho? Ye Andaaz-e-Musalmani Hai?

Haidari Faqr Hai Ne Doulat-e-Usmani Hai
Tum Ko Aslaaf Se Kya Nisbat-e-Rohani Hai?

Woh Zamane Mein Mu’azzaz The Musalman Ho Kar
Aur Tum Khawar Huwe Taarik-e-Quran Ho Kar

No. OP says the country is an "Arab" country. He also mentions Libya so the country may be in that region. Tunisia (I think) is the most secular country in North Africa.

Just going with the clues.

Assalamualikum

Islam is the last and the final word with regard to faith in this world and Mohammad (SallAllahu alyhi Wasalam) is the last and the final Messenger. This is and should be the unshakeable faith of every Muslim.
Being from Allah, Islam is unblemished and free from any defect or loopholes. Islam is perfect. Perfection entails that there are no gradations of moderate and fundamentalist and progressive and this and that. Islam is Islam. Just one shade, just one hue. No Gradations. Islam is Islam:it is non-sensical to talk of moderate and hardline Islam. There are/can be no such gradations. One is a Muslim or a non-Muslim or and Kafir. No gradations on such lines. The gradations of moderates and hardliners etc are the handiwork of the enemies of Islam. The gradations on the basis of piety, Ilm etc accepted.
The model for any Muslim (individual) or the Ummah as a whole can be an individual or a country which is a practical embodiment of what is laid down in Quraan and hadith for living a life wherein the high values of justice, truth, equality, brotherhood, love, compassion ,pity,fellow-feeling and care and concern for all the creations of Allah are prioritised simply it is ordained by Allah and His Prophet (SallAllahu alyhi Wasalam).
The fact is that we Muslims (both as Individuals and the Ummah) have failed to show practically the great qualities which a Muslim or Muslim Country should/can and must have (IllamashAllah). The unfortunate and the bitterest fact is tha there is hardly any country Arab or Non-Arab which can lay claim to the status which this Muslim Brother claims.Oh that somebody could genuinely make such a claim!

Does not matter which country. It is just a sad state of affairs that following a simple sunnah like wearing trousers above the ankles makes one a target of the security services in a so-called muslim country.

My guess too is lebanon. People are crazy about lebanese girls and thats the reason kuffar and others also want to marry them.
i heard one karguzari from a jamat , that came from lebanon. I have no idea about other countries.

So what should we do about such people? Keeping silence will be against Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Bad.
