I have seen many people these days loosing there temper when anyone does anything wrong. When asked "Why u did this, u shouldn't have been angry?" They reply by saying don't u know how angry Umar(r.a)used to get for the sake of religion? They think they are following Umar(r.a). How can we differentiate between the jalaal which Umar(r.a) possessed and our anger(which is usually the urge of our nafs)? |

Yes but when 'Umar (ra) would get angry sometimes he made mistakes as a result of anger, which is why he wished he had a throat as long as a Camel's to measure the words before uttering them. Also anger in general is not a good thing so better follow the Sunnah of the Prophet SAWS than that of 'Umar (ra). |

Brother Tripoly is right. People try to make excuse for getting angry. Also people forget the Mercy in the character of Umar (ra). As for politeness in commanding the right and forbidding the wrong, it is obligatory. Allah Most High says, "Speak unto him gentle words" (Quran 20:44) (A: this being to Pharaoh, the enemy of Allah, so how then with one's fellow Muslims?) (Mukhtasar Minhaj al-qasidin , 123-30). |
