Listing Babar’s case for discussion in Westminster Hall is a convenient way for Parliament to wash their hands of the matter by not subjecting the issue for a vote. The two reasons that have been given for refusing to have Babar’s petition debated in the main Chamber is that it lacks public support and that there is not enough time left in this year’s calendar for such a debate."


The e-petition's are just lip service exercises to demonstrate the support of the false idealogical view of democracy. All governments historically have taken the views and opinions of a hand full of people within a think-tank especially those well versed in sociology, politics, economics, etc. The decent governments have done it with the best interest of all peoples and the not so decent have their own agenda.

Many were put under pressure to sign the e-petition with the support of Islamic personalities via youtube, facebook, email, etc and then the mass support via blogs, websites and forums. In my personal opinion I believe this unfortunate result will have a detrimental effect on the mindset of the Muslims as a whole especially in the UK.

I compare this to Asian groups demanding a small football pitch in the town due to the high intake of drugs in the community but the local council constantly refuses in spite of this. The consequences is the disheartened community members believe that these endeavours are useless and without result and never embark on them again and go into silos for years to come until another group of people much smarter take up the stand. This particular example is not that great but I have seen this over and over again. However now you have the power of the internet that draws across the entire globe and attracts 100,000 votes in a short span of time but has the same consequences if 10 people went down to the local council.

I do not believe I am being over simplistic in describing the situation but peeling away the layers should provide this understanding.

Further what is this e-petition? seriously! think about it. How can you take it seriously? On what basis? Electronic signatures, please! What are the rules of validation? Any intelligent analysis of any OPPOSING party of a Government would instantly ask this question. But since all parties are in favour of this e-petition only those issues that are already in Government agenda for discussion which the public has expressed an interest can be accepted otherwise it would be a media circus for them with the first question being 'How to we validate that these 100,000+ votes are even real?"

for this. i have been saying this for a long time.

the time and effort spent by thousands of people on this e-petition effort could have been spent on something that could have actually helped. this e-petition site is just created as a form of distraction, making people believe they are ctually doing something whereas in reality nothing is being done.

if we are serious about helping our people then we need to create some sort of lobbying group or union that will have the power to disrupt the system by holding strikes or holding back taxes or having college/uni walkouts or whatever. only then will they listen.

btw everyone who signed that petition with their real name and address have probably been logged onto a database somewhere.
