I have been wanting to ask this ... when you lift the finger, if I am not mistaken do you make a circle by connecting your middle finger with your thumb? and then when you lower the finger do you leave your thumb and middle finger connecting and index finger pointing forward or do you leave your hands as they were before the finger gets raised?
I hope this makes sense... |

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakaatuhu There are two types of Ahaadith regarding the continual and non-continual movement of the finger in Tashahhud. According to the Hanafi Madhab, the finger should not be continually moved. (Footnote No.5 Abu Dawud vol.1 pg.149). The index finger should be extended at 'Laa ilaaha' and retracted at 'illa llaah'. (Shaami vol.2 pg.218; Pakistan) According to the Shaaf'ee Madhab, the index finger should be extended at extracted at 'illallaah' without it's continual movement. (Fiqhul Islaami vol.2 pg.218) According to the Maaliki Madhab, one should close his small finger and ring finger and form a circle with his thumb and middle finger. (Fiqhul Islaai Wa Adillatuhu vol.2 pg.938). There is no mention whether the finger should be extended and retracted as well as whether it should be moved continuously or not. and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best Mufti Ebrahim Desai FATWA DEPT. http://www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/...=2564&act=view |
