"Al-buraq, a white animal, smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me and I set out with Gabriel. "
Bukhari

"Then he [Gabriel] brought the Buraq, handsome-faced and bridled, a tall, white beast, bigger than the donkey but smaller than the mule. He could place his hooves at the farthest boundary of his gaze. He had long ears. Whenever he faced a mountain his hind legs would extend, and whenever he went downhill his front legs would extend. He had two wings on his thighs which lent strength to his legs"

Donkeys are between 10-14 hands so about 48 inches.
A mule has an average size of 14-16 hands so about 60 inches

Estimated height of Buraaq using this would probably be about 4.5 feet?

Allah knows best.

Out of curiosity why do you ask?

My horse had a baby (a filly), and i was thinking of the name Buraaq, but did'nt know whether Buraaq was a male or female... and this got me thinking about the other details of this special horse as well!

this is an ironic question, it is said (dont have the source but heard it many times) that when the mongols invaded and destroyed Baghdad, massacred 2000000 muslims, the muslims were occupied with useless activities and fruitless debates and and one of them was whether buraaq was a male or female...not discouraging you from asking questions but this just reminded me of something and cudnt help posting it here
