Assalamu alaykum,
jazakum Allah khayrain for all your replies. Indeed, if this story is true (we have yet to find the hadith), it is a powerful reminder of the extent to which Islam can transform the believer, even if he committed the most abhorrent sins. It should remind us all of Allah's mercy and it is pure ignorance that it should be used to defame or slander Sayyidna Umar (radi Allahu anhu). wa salam |

Assalamu alaykum, True indeed. Umar himself told the story about the biggest mistake he did before becoming a Muslim. He actually went to attack our Beloved Rasoolullah . But when he entered, Rasoolullah grabbed his collar and said 'O son of Khattaab! Accept Islaam.' And Hazrat Umar accepted Islam. . http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...l=1#post613353 Many Sahabah did mistakes in their Jahaliyya before becoming Muslim. If Allah the Almighty has forgiven the past sins of every person who becomes a Muslim. Then who are we to hold their action against them. Biggest sin one can commit is Shirk and Allah forgives it with the Shahadah. So someone concentrating on the acts of a Muslim before Imaan is ignorant. Khalid bin Waleed (ra) was the brain behind the temporary setback faced by the Muslims in the battle of Uhud. Rasoolullah called him 'Sayfullah' ie Sword of Allah after he became Muslim. Ikramah bin Abu Jahl(ra) fought fiercely against Rasoolullah for almost 2 decades. After he embraced Islam he died as a Shaheed. There are numerous example of Sahabah who were the worst in Jahaliyya and became the best after accepting Islam. This is what Islam does to us. |
