Are you asking for daleel (proof) or hikmah (wisdom) behind it?

'cause Allah and His Messenger said so. For every "reasoning" and "hikmah" you will hear, one can probably come up with counter examples to render them useless. Just consider this life as a test, and Allah swt as the test-maker. He allows for us certain things, and forbids us from certain things ... and sees which one of us will obey him. The test taker only wastes time trying to figure out *why* the examiner asked him a certain question instead of actually answering the question.

Consider the example of a general, commanding his troops to march to some destination while walking by the side of a river with empty water bottles forbidding them to drink from the river even if they are thirsty. Now, will the water harm them? Probably not. Then why do such a thing? He's testing his men, seeing which one of them will suck it up and obey ... which one of them are worthy of a reward. Which one of them, after having pledged allegiance to the general to obey him in any circumstance, will actually come thru on their word? We have also made a pledge, a pledge to Allah swt, that he is our Lord, one to be obeyed. He's merely testing us.

Well, that's a matter of opinion, some would argue that pink is even more effeminate, but men are still allowed to wear that colour.

I have silver chain and it's lost some shine over 5 years so I'm planning on purchasing a White-Gold chain soon.

I also wear red shirts and red ties. Pink shirts occasionally too.

Nothing wrong with it.

As-Salamu ´Alaykum,

In the Shafi´i school it is considered permissible based on the various narrations that indicates its permissibility, implicitly and explicitly, as mentioned by Imam al-Nawawi. Some of the Hadiths utilized are found below:

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 001, Book 008, Hadith Number 373.

Narated By Abu Juhaifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu: I saw Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam in a red leather tent and I saw Bilal (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) taking the remaining water with which the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) had performed ablution. I saw the people taking the utilized water impatiently and whoever got some of it rubbed it on his body and those who could not get any took the moisture from the others' hands. Then I saw Bilal (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) carrying an 'Anza (a spear-headed stick) which he planted in the ground. The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) came out tucking up His red cloak, and led the people in prayer and offered two Rakat (facing the Ka'ba) taking 'Anza as a Sutra for his prayer. I saw the people and animals passing in front of him beyond the 'Anza.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 007, Book 072, Hadith Number 788.

Narated By Al-Bara' Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu: I did not see anybody in a red cloak looking more handsome than the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam).

Abu Dawud, Book 027, Hadith Number 4061.
Al Bara' (b. Azib) Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said: Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam had hair which reached the lobes of His ears, and I saw Him wearing red robe. I did not see anything more beautiful than it.

Abu Dawud, Book 027, Hadith Number 4062.
Narrated By Amir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu : I saw Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam at Mina giving sermon on a mule and wearing a red garment, while Ali (Alayhis Salaam) was announcing.

Shamaa-il Tirmidhi, Chapter 008, The Dressing of Rasulullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam, Hadith Number 009 (061).
Abu Juhayfah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu says, "I saw Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam wearing a pair of red (coloured) clothing. The lustre of the Feet of Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam is still before me." Sufyaan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu who is a narrator of this hadith says: "According to my understanding the pair (of clothing) was printed red."

Chapter 001, The Noble Features of Rasulullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam, Hadith Number 009 (009).
It is related from Jaabir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu that he said: "I once saw Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam on the night of a full moon. On that night He wore red clothing. At times I looked at the full moon and at times at Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam. Ultimately I came to the conclusion that Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam was more handsome, beautiful and more radiant than the full moon."

Abu Dawud, Book 027, Hadith Number 4058.
Narrated By Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu: A man wearing two red garments passed the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) and gave Him a greeting, but He did not respond to his greeting.

Chapter 1. The Noble Features.
Hadith 003 (003). (Shamaa-il Tirmidhi)

Baraa bin Aazib (Radiallahu anhu) relates that: "Rasullullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) was a man of a medium build, (slightly tall, as explained before); he had broad shoulders (from which we may gather that he had a wide chest); he had dense hair which reached his ear-lobes; he wore a RED striped lungi (a cloth worn around the legs) and shawl. I never saw anybody or anything more handsome than him".

Commentary.
In this hadeeth the word `Rajulun Marbu'un' is used, which if the letter `Jeem' has a dammah (pesh), means a man. This could be correct. This type of word is used in the Arabic language for connecting words, but because no special quality or attribute is derived, some Muhadditheen (scholars of hadeeth) are of the opinion that if the letter `Jeem' has a fatah (zabar) on it, it means something that is between straight and bent. It may also be possible that in this case it refers to the description of the hair of Sayyidina Rasullullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam), and as described before, his mubarak (blessed) hair had a slight curl in it. From this hadeeth, some scholars are of the opinion that it is permissible for men to wear RED colouRED clothing. According to the Hanafis there is a detailed explanation on this subject. Before selecting RED clothing, the scholars should be consulted regarding its permissibility.

The scholars have written that in this hadeeth the Sahabi did not see `anything' more handsome and beautiful than Sayyidina Rasullullah (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam). This is said because besides human beings, the moon, sun, etc. are also included.

Chapter 8. The Dressing.
Hadith 009 (061). (Shamaa-il Tirmidhi)

Abu Juhayfah (R.A) says, "I saw Rasulullah (S.A.W) wearing a pair of red (coloured) clothing. The lustre of the feet of Rasulullah (S.A.W) is still before me." Sufyaan (R.A) who is a narrator of this hadith says: "According to my understanding the pair (of clothing) was printed red."

Commentary.
This incident took place at the time of Hajjatul-Widaa, as is stated if the Bukhaari and other kitaabs of hadith. Sayyidina Sufyaan (R.A) 'Anhu's reason for saying that this was a red coloured clothing (for men). There is a difference of opinion among the 'Ulama'. The Hanafis also state a number of opinions. This has been discussed in the first chapter. Before choosing red-coloured clothing an 'aalim should be consulted. Maulana Gangohi has mentioned a few times in his fataawa (religious rulings) that it is permissible for a man to wear red patterned garment's. From the point of taqwaa (piety) it is better for a man not to wear red colouRED GARMENTs, since there is a difference of opinion among the learned 'Ulama'.

This is a fatwa given by Dr. Main Khalid Al-Qudah on wearing red:

Only pure, dark red is not allowed for Muslim men to wear. If striped with a different color and not that shiny, it is allowed, since the various juristic schools are not unanimous regarding the prohibition of wearing pure, dark red. Some of them are of the opinion that it is only disliked.

If any other color is customarily restricted to only one gender in any particular society, it is not allowed for the other gender to wear, because the Prophet (saws) prohibited men from imitating women, and vice versa.

All colours are permitted with the Hanafis, especially in our times. As for gold, it is haram for men by consensus of the ulema.

bilal brown where did you get all colour is correct according to Hanafi schools. Br. Rahla actually hitned the hanafi position.
according to the knowledge Allah has given me, it is because everything, every action has a positive effect or negative effect. islam eradictes all negativities from every aspect of life. in doing so peace is achieved. this is what islam means by peace. anything that has a negative effect is a sin or haram and anyhting that has a positive effect is a virtue or halal. everything islam tells you there is spiritual and worldy benifit to it and every thing it forbids there is spirtual and worldy harm in it. this is why even if a non muslim follows islam he will benift from it. in islam everything it allows, there is benift. for example there is benifit in wearing a hijab, niqab burka and harm in not wearing these things.

secondly Allahs friends (r.a) have stated in one sentence the diffrence between islam and science. they r.a sate that "islam tells you the truth, science finds the truth". islam only tells you what the truth is, science only finds this truth. so you see every thing islam permits and forbids can be proven by science. for example the prophet pbuh said that who ever caressess the head of an orphan, all the sins equal to the hair on the oprphans head will be forgiven for that person. many years ago is saw a car commercial where they were showing scientific facts and a fact it stated was that caressing someones face for 2 or 5 sceconds( i cant remember which) expresses more love than telling you love them for 5 minutes.

the prophets pbuh sunnat is to drink 3 times while eating, one at the beggining, 2nd middle and 3rd at the end of a meal. I saw an ad in a magazine helping to fight obesity by saying to drink something before you eat and in the middle of eating.

the prophet pbuh said to wear white colour clothes, i saw an expert on tv about colours (as the science of colours states that colours affect emotions and feelings) saying to wear light and bright colour clothes as it makes you appear more warm and friendly.

these r just a few examples from the huge list i know of.

so you see. if islam forbids gold and red and silk, it is because there is harm or in other words negative effect.

if you do some reserach you will find that the human body has electrical charges and materials effect this charge. some materials have a negative charge. and these charges can affect the metabolism of the body. i dont know about gold but silk has a negative charge.

so yoyu see gold and silk have negative affects on males. and also the colour red.

this is why islam forbids gold red and silk for men.

REMEMBER: EVERYTHING ISLAM PERMITS IE HALAL, THERE IS A POSITIVE EFFECT AND THUS BENIFIT AND EVERYTHING IT FORBIDS IE HARAM, THERE IS NEGATIVE EFFETCT. AND IT CAN ALL BE PROVEN BY SCIENCE.

Praise be to Allaah.

The scholars differed concerning the ruling on men wearing red clothes, and different ahaadeeth have been narrated concerning that. Some ahaadeeth indicate that wearing red is forbidden, whilst others indicate that it is permitted. It is possible to reconcile between them – praise be to Allaah – because the ahaadeeth do not contradict with one another in fact, as the source is one. The correct view concerning this matter is that the ahaadeeth can be reconciled in the following manner:

It is permissible to wear red clothes if the red is combined with another colour; it is not permissible to wear plain red, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade doing so.

There follows a discussion of some of the ahaadeeth on this issue:

A- The ahaadeeth which forbid wearing plain red.

1. From al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him): “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade us to use soft red mattresses and qasiy – garments with woven stripes of silk.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5390)

2. From Ibn ‘Abbaas, who said: “I was forbidden (to wear) red garments and gold rings, and to recite Qur’aan in rukoo’.” (Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, no. 5171. Imaam al-Albaani said: its isnaad is saheeh. Saheeh Sunan al-Nasaa’i, 1068).

3. From ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-Aas (may Allaah be pleased with them both), who said: “A man passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wearing two red garments and greeted him with salaam, but he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not return the greeting.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2731; Abu Dawood, no. 3574. Al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan ghareeb with this isnaad). According to the scholars, the meaning of this hadeeth is that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) disliked the wearing of garments dyed with safflower (the red dyestuff obtained from safflowers), but he had no objection to garments dyed with clay or other substances, so long as it was not dyed with safflower. This hadeeth was classed as da’eef by al-Albaani (Da’eef Sunan Abi Dawood, 403; Da’eef Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 334. He said: its isnaad is da’eef).

B. Ahaadeeth which may be understood to mean that it is permissible to wear red if it is mixed with another colour:

1. From Hilaal ibn ‘Aamir from his father, who said: “I saw the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in Mina, giving a khutbah sitting on his mule, wearing a red cloak, and ‘Ali was in front of him, repeating what he said (in a loud voice, so that the people could hear).” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 3551; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani – Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood, 767).

2. The hadeeth of al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was of average build. I saw him in a red hullah, and I never saw anyone more handsome than him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 5400; Muslim, 4308).

3. From al-Baraa’, who said: “I never saw anyone who has hair wearing a red hullah and looking more handsome than the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He had hair down to his shoulders, he was broad-shouldered and was neither short nor tall.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 1646. He said: in this chapter there is a report from Jaabir ibn Samurah and Abu Rimthah and Abu Juhayfah. This hadeeth is hasan saheeh…)

4. From al-Baraa’ who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had hair down to his earlobes. I saw him wearing a red hullah, and I have never seen anyone more handsome than him.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 4072; Ibn Maajah, no. 3599. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani – Saheeh Sunan Abi dawood, 768).

5. Al-Bayhaqi narrated in al-Sunan: “[The Prophet] (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to wear a red cloak on Eid.”

What is meant by a red hullah is a suit of two Yemeni garments which are woven with red and black stripes, or red and green stripes. It is described as red because of the red stripes in it.

This is the view of a number of scholars, such as al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar (Fath al-Baari Sharh ‘ala Saheeh al-Bukhaari, no. 5400) and Ibn al-Qayyim (Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1-137). And Allaah knows best.

Bismillah
Dear brother Saqfu,
We all know there is hikmah in every single aspects of deen but the question was where is the clear explicit ruling that you stated that according to Hanafi School that Red colour is permitted when there are statement / narration where Rasullah SAW disliked/prohibted men wearing safron and gold for men. I am noting talking about strand of red colour but the entire attaire being red. I am not interested what science has to say as science is not what defines haq from batil. Its remit is limited and understanding of deen isn't.
Please provide clear ruling and reference and not subjective view or opinion as requested in previous post. If yo don't know then the answers are given in the link below in similar thread section.
Shukran
brother sorry, if i have not made it clear or there may be an error in my spelling in the last post ( i havent checked yet but i will) i meant to say that red is FORBIDDEN
NOT PERMISSIBLE. i stated the reason why islam forbids anything is because there is harm in it. and can be proven by science. if you study the science of colours you will find that colour has effects on our emotions and feelings and the red colour will therefore have a negative effect on males including silk and gold.

sorry nomadic if i made it appear as though i stated that hanafi allows red. i know in islam it is forbidden. i will check my last post again and edit the mistake

"All colours are permissible in clothing for, and the best is green because it is the clothing of the people of jannah." - Al-Fiqh al-Hanafi fi thawbihi al-jadid.

This ruling applies to men and women.

The reason that the ulema give for the prohibition is that the dye of some red clothing used to be mixed with impurities.

In the battle of 'Uhud Abu Dujanah (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing a rned turba, Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing a bright yellow turban and Husab (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing a green turban

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: “I saw the Messenger of Allah performing wudhu. He had on a “Qitri” turban. When performing the wiping of the head, without untying the turban, he entered his hand beneath it and wiped the front portion of his head.” (Abu Dawud) “Qitri” – This is a type of thick coarse cloth which has an element of redness in it. Perhaps this is attributed to the place of “Qatar”. From this narration the permissibility of wearing red turbans can be ascertained. (Bazl-ul-Majhud Vol.1).
