Default Mixing culture, ethnic traits and tribal habits with Islam
As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم):

How do practicing Muslims eliminate mixing cultural, ethnic and tribal habits with Islam?

Example: Nabi Muhammad (saws.gif ) was arab and many arab traditions were incorporated within
Islam that didn't conflict and many were abandoned. (Reading the sira (history) is very
important to eliminate.

All the sunnats ( minor or major ) which the beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم left behind as footprints to lead us on to Allah are dear to us. Be they the the things which he liked
among the traditions of Arabs at that time and preserved for us by following them or be they some which he added or replaced from among the customs which he did find fit for
preservation. It is not for us to sift if we are his true followers and if we claim to love him.

All it needs is sacrifice. Studying the life of sahabah(r.a) helps to get over this. Even in Quran Allah(swt) says Wa-“idha qila lahum “aminu kama “amana aln-nasu qalu “anu-“minu kama “amana als-sufaha (And when it is said unto them: believe as the people believe, they say: shall we believe as the foolish believe?)[people here refers to the sahaba]. So when sahaba(r.a) changed their way of life in accordance to the deen of Allah (swt), they were also teased, made fun off, but they didnt give up.When we try to mould ourselves we are also opposed n it starts within the family itself, so following the sahabah(r.a) is the best medicine..

Ukhti shajratutooba:

we are referring to the modern day traditions and cultures people incorporate that have nothing to do
with Islam.
