Default A question about slaughtering

I am translating an article about halal slaughtering but I am confused about something. Here is the text I can't understand:

There are basically three conditions for a valid slaughter according to the Shariah:

a) Most of the four veins (including the Jugular vein, according to some) must cut with a tool that is sharp and has a cutting edge; The Fuqaha differ as to which of the veins must be cut. According to Imam Shafi’i, both the wind pipe and the gullet must be slit in order for the animal to be lawful. According to our (Hanafi) school, three from the four must be cut. However, all the fuqaha agree that the place to slaughter is the throat and the upper part of the chest. What is it meant here by the word 'veins'?

Which are the 4 veins of the throat?

So will it be permissible to cut 3 of the 4 veins /without the wind pipe and the gullet/ according to the Hanafis?

In my understanding by 'veins' it is meant: the 2 Jugular veins, the wind pipe and the gullet. But the later two are not veins /blood vessels/...

I m not an expert in the fiqh of this.
But as for the anatomy, there are 4 blood vessels in the neck. So perhaps the '4 veins' mentioned could be about the 4 blood vessels.
The 4 blood vessels in the neck are: 2 Carotid arteries and 2 Jugular veins.

Edit: Considering Ml.Talibans post below, i would like to add that there are 2 more hollow vessels(not blood vessels) ie the Trachea(wind pipe) and the Oesophagus(food pipe).

So the basically there are 6 structures in the neck:
1.Right carotid artery
2.Left carotid artery
3.Right jugular vein
4.Left jugular vein
5.Trachea (wind pipe)
6.Oesophagus (food pipe)

The below statement is correct understanding.

In my understanding by 'veins' it is meant: the 2 Jugular veins, the wind pipe and the gullet. But the later two are not veins /blood vessels/... So will it be permissible to cut 3 of the 4 veins /without the wind pipe and the gullet/ according to the Hanafis? Just like you said above, there are 4 veins/arteries/pipes/whatever you call them, out of which three have to be cut. 2 are jugular veins, wind pipe, the gullet.

So if you cut 3 veins, wind pipe or the gullet would be surely cut.

I am confused because 'veins' means 'blood vessels' and the trachea and oesophagus are not blood vessels. I don't know if the word has more meanings in English but I know that 'vein' comes from the Latin 'vena' and means only 'blood vessel'.

I think Ulama should be more precise in writing and translating and not to confuse people like me
