As salaamu alaykum.
Would anyone be able to provide me with sources for, or recommendations of, some of the more beautiful and expansive in meaning words of Praise for Allah and Salutations upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) that would be appropriate for use by a Khateeb to begin the Friday Khutbah? There are a few that we use most commonly but we (those tasked with delivering the Khutbah) are in need of some different ones as different ones are appropriate to set different types of moods or tones for the Khutbah which has a tremendous impact on both gaining and maintaining the attention of those being addressed as well as to put them in the right frame of mind for the receipt of a given message. Please post links, recommend sources, or recommend specific formulas. Full vowelization would be helpful. Jazakallahu Khair. Wa'salaam. |

I believe the technique of alluding the topic at hand by means of the opening is termed 'baraa'at al-istihlal'. See the openings of many of our traditional books, like the various books of the Ihya', and how they relate to the topics being discussed. I posted Habib Zayn's khutbahs -- that should be of some help.
