![]() I just ended up reading the tahfut al-falasifa of Imam Al-Ghazali Rahimahullah. I would say that the book and the wisdom of Imam Sahib captivated me. Other than making up the air tight premises for the famous Kalam cosmological argument , Imam Ghazali Rahimahullah has come up with many other interesting arguments which really made me feel that the Imam Sahib had a very deep understanding of the reality. Recently , William lane craig , the famous christian apologetic and debater gave a lecture at the kalam cosmological argument. I was thinking that he would attribute the invention of KCA to the famous christian philosopher and saint Thomas Aquinas (He has discussed KCA in his Summa Theologica) for obvious reasons but he was much fair and he attributed it to its pioneer , Imam Al Ghazali. The lecture can be heard below. http://rfmedia.org/av/audio/how-did-...leback-church/ |

True that the terminology of Kalam cosmological argument was coined by William lane craig but he has just added some scientific affirmations to Imam Ghazali Rahimahullah's argument. The crux of the argument is the absurdity of an eternal universe in the Aristotelian philosophy which later on even effected Muslim thinkers like Bu Alisina and al Farabi as well.h Imam Ghazali ra was the first person to come up with a sound philosophical refutation to the arguments for the eternity of the universe. The book is really an interesting read as besides the arguments against the eternity of universe , Imam Sahib has made some great arguments against the other pretensions of the Aristotelians. |
