I watched the video it was made me furious to know people can just walk away without helping. However because of the “Nanjing judge” refers to an infamous 2006 incident where a young man named Peng Yu went to the aid of an elderly woman who had fallen down on the street in the eastern city of Nanjing. At the woman’s request, Peng helped take her to the hospital only to have the woman turn around and accuse him for being the person who knocked her down. A Nanjing judge then ruled that “common sense” suggested that Peng only took the woman to the hospital because he was guilty and ordered him to pay her medical expenses.
The story was picked up by the Chinese media and quickly became a cautionary tale for many Chinese: no good deed goes unpunished. |

![]() I couldn't bring myself to watch the video after reading the description. Why would I want to see something like that for no reason? What really troubles me is the morbid fascination people have with footage of this kind. People watch TV news segments about wars, natural disasters, famine, disease, gruesome murders and rapes as if it's some kind of entertainment. Be honest with yourselves, do you enjoy seeing/hearing some "juicy" news like this? If the answer is yes, you should take a step back and wonder why. |

![]() Heard Shaykh Hamza talk about this in one of his lectures where he was hating on the media; said that images such as those desensitise you to human suffering (which I also hold to be correct). Mentioned how someone spoke about death in front of Hassan Al Basri and he didn't eat for three days, yet we watch awful things, terrible things, death and destruction, right in front of our eyes, and then eat dinner like nothing happened Obviously not really the point of the thread but thought it was interesting to mention ![]() |
