Default Definition of Ṣaḥābī?
Is there an agreed-upon definition of what makes somebody a Ṣaḥābī? Obviously they had to be believers. Did they have to be close friends with Rasūl Allāh ﷺ, i.e. they were active in the Muslim community? Or is it enough that they only briefly met the Prophet once?

Apparently there were 50 or 60 prominent companions. But maybe there were "lesser companions" beyond that?

Is ṣāḥib the masculine singular and ṣāḥabah the masculine plural? Ṣāḥibah the feminine singular and ṣawāḥib/ṣawāḥibat the feminine plural?

The soundest and the most widespread definition of Sahabi which is mentioned by Hafiz Ibn Hajar and other scholars, is someone who saw the Prophet and believed in him as well as died a Muslim. So, according to this definition seeing once as a believer and dieing upon Iman is enough to be considered as Sahabi. Those who saw him, but became Muslims only after the death of the Prophet are considered as Tabi'in. The historians and scholars say that there were more than 100.000 Sahabis at the death of Prophet .

Sahabi = singular, male
Sahabiyyah = singular, female

Sahaabah = plural, male (or males and females)
Sahaabiyyaat = plural, females

Plurals often are not regular, so you just have to memorize them. . .
