Assalamu alaykum
Hazrat Maulana Hakeem Akhtar Sahib db advises that those who have got a tendency to "slip" at times of urges from nafs should try not to be alone. They should rather kep themselves in some pious company. At times, they should even do some Mubaah (permissible form of entertainment) to diverge the ming from haraam forms of entertainment. The key point to get rid of sins is "WILL POWER". In addition to his, one should: 1) Sit in the company of pious. 2) Ask Allah for help. 3) Ask pious People to make dua for him. 4) Keep himself away, as much as possible 5) Indulge in Zikr of Allah. Also, at times when you start feeling an "urge", try to occupy your mind in something else (be it some deeni work or any other Mubaah work). And remember that we are not obliged to not let any "urge" come in our mind, rather, we are obliged to control ourselves at such times. And in suppressing such urges, we are going to gain great rewards Insha Allah. However, we should try to "weaken" the intensity of such urges so that they may not overtake us. The way to this lies in the advices mentioned above. For more of such advices, try reading/listening to Hazrat ahkeem Akhtar Sahib (if you know urdu) and Maulana yunus patel (his are mostly in english). The links to websites dedicated to these two Shaykhs (along with link to Shaykh nabeel Khan, an associate of Hazrat hakeem Akhtar Sahib, is mentioned below in my signature. Hope this helps. Make dua for me as well. |
