Weighing too much may increase your risk for developing many health problems. If your body mass index (BMI) indicates that you are overweight or obese, you may be at risk for many of obesity's health effects. These include:

•Type 2 diabetes
•Heart disease
•Stroke
•High blood pressure (hypertension)
•High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia)
•Certain cancers
•Sleep apnea
•Osteoarthritis
•Gallbladder disease and gallstones
•Fatty liver disease (also called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH)
•Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
•Gout
•Psychological and emotional effects.

The move will place a surcharge on foods high in saturated fat. Butter, milk, cheese, pizza, meat, oil and processed food will all be subject to the levy. They should be taxing grains and foods high in carbohydrates, not foods high in fat.

Taxing grains? But why? And why protect foods high in fat?

As-salamu alaikum

Because carbs drive up insulin levels which is the real cause of people getting fat. If you want to experience this for yourself, drop all carbs from your diet or restrict them a lot, and eat protein and good fats. You will lose weight. Fats such as butter and olive oil don't cause you to get fat; they are actually healthy.
