Interestingly, news papers arent mentioning his full name which is Allama Ali Sher Hydri.

Yes he was a great scholar. We are loosing scholars rapidly. This is another big incident after Mufti Atiq-ur-Rehman (RHA) . This is second martyrdom, in a row of Sipah-e-Sahabah.

May ALLAH grants Jannah tu all those martyrs. (ameen)

Assalam Alaikum.

No, both are different personalities.

This is a huge loss man. He (RA) was a sea of knowledge. I remember once Maulana Saleemullah Khan said that "yeh tau ilm ka pahar hain" (he is a mountain of knowledge).

He used to negate the shias and barelwis through Quran. That was his speciality. Unlike Maulana Azam Tariq and Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman Farooqi, he was not very loud in his speech. Instead he was more Ilmi, and talked on daleel.

And this is yet another sacrifice from the Sipah-e-Sahaba. The sacrifices given by the Sipah-e-Sahaba outnumber all other organizations in Pakistan. Whether it was Kashmir, Afghanistan, Lal Masjid, etc, or any other platform, the Sipah-e-Sahaba gave the most number of shaheeds.

Assalam o alaykum,

I am still in a shock! I couldn't believe it when I heard this news. I grew up listening to his speeches. This is indeed a great loss. Histroy of Sipah-i-Sahaba is filled with great sacrifices and no other jamat in recent history of Deoband can match its sacrifices. Allamah Ali Sher Haydari was an ilmi giant and true defender of Ahl al-Sunnah. I remember when I was at Tabligh Markaz in NawabShah in 2004 right after Allamah Azam Tariq shahid (may Allah have mercy on him) was killed; Allamah Ali Shar Haydari paid a visit there along his guard. He looked really sad from the lost of his great leader and friend. I can't think of anyone who can fill his post.

May Allah grant him Jannat al-Firdaus.

heard this sad news last night have been in a state of shock since but not suprised. Clearly this is the work of the dirty shias....... 1st m.yusuf ludyanvi ra, m.azam tariq, m.zia ul qasmi now allamah sher ali haidri ra. I guess the easiest route to shadah must be to refute the shias. May Allah elevate hazrats rank ameen.

May Allah grant Hazrat place amongst the Shuhadah and elevate his status.

He was a man of immense knowledge and a buning desire to keep the deen alive in its true form. His bayans were so enlightening that without using any complex theories he used to answer and refute all allegations of the Ghair Muqallids and Shias. Though most of his talk would be in a normal voice but the moment he raised his pitch it was like a lion's roar and I could imagine the terrifying effect it would have over the enemies of islam.

May Allah create more like him who will carry the torch of Deoband into the future.

Indeed a great big loss
Hazrat was regarded as a Allama by anyone who had heard of him. Alhamudulillah i was very priviliged to have had a very great close link with hadhrat! we did hajj together aswell
he was a lion and warrior agaisnt his enemies, a leader against his comrades, a loving brother amongs his people and a caring father and idol amongst his youth.
mashallah he was a living legend for the ahle sunnat and died defendin the deen e haq!

Inshallah he is above the earth in the Heavens with Huzoor (s.a.w.), Ashab e Rasool and Ghulamaan e Ashab..May allah also accept us in this path and give us the taufeeq to follow his footsteps
Ammen Summ Ameen
