Default What are some things you do to boost your Imaan?
Assalamu Alaikum,

What are some ways that you boost your imaan, after, for example, you have very discouraging encounters with unreligious people, or see, hear or read about something that leaves a bad trace on your imaan? And you feel saddened by it?

What do you do to freshen your imaan?

Jazak'Allah Khair.

Hmmm, there's quite a few:

  • Listening to bayans by Ulamaa
  • Reading books written by Ulamaa
  • Talking about the Qudrah of Allah
  • Listening to talks about the Qudrah of Allah
  • Reciting Qur'an in seclusion
  • Listening to live recitation of the Qur'an
  • Awraad after Fajr and Asr.
  • Tahajjud
  • Reading about the lives of Sahabah
  • Reading about the lives of past Ulamaa
  • Doing things in Deen that are against the nafs

Personally, I run towards my shaykh. Be it online company of his or lectures or previous emails. If not, I get into company of pious people, elderly and kind. Just staying with them boosts my emaan. You might want to try this, spend time with pious elderly people and talk to them about their issues, listen to them..Hear their history and their encounters in life.. youl feel refreshed.

I don't know any sisters who have gone to jama't for 1 year, but I have heard in many bayans of such women from France and UK who have gone for 1 year with their husbands.

In a bayan, there was also a mention of 1 lady in Pakistan whose husband went for 4 months, and when she found out that women are also allowed, she told her husband her zeal to also go with him. So she and her husband decided to go for 1 year. But they had 3 adult daughters and they were so poor that they used to work in the fields for daily income. So the mother was very worried to leave her daughters alone, but her daughters reassured her that they will be fine, and they will work in the fields whenever there is need. So the parents went after leaving whatever savings they could leave. During their trip, one day in the masjid, the mother looked very disturbed, so the amir sent his wife to inquire about her. When asked, the mother replied that last night she had a dream. Her three daughters were telling her in the dream that since 3 days they have had no work and nothing to eat, and thus she was very disturbed.
